I wonder if Urban's views on Notre Dame have changed over the years. Supposedly he is named after a pope. But he took the Florida job when Notre Dame was open at the same time in part because he wouldn't have to worry about the academic restrictions.

At this point I would think the problem is the other way around.. would ND take him with all his baggage?

Some cats in the Lincoln Riley thread was talking about how big of a scum bag move it was to dip to USC (it wasn't). Meanwhile, Brian Kelly outchea gone with the wind without a care in the world. Don't matter if his team is on the verge of the BCS or CFP. He gives no fukks

A lot of different theories being put out there right now between :

- Kelly wanting raises for himself and his staff + requesting some upgrades to facilities that weren't immediately granted
- Kelly feeling like he maxed out his tenure there given the academic restrictions
- ND not wanting to commit to him for another extension because they want Freeman to take the reigns

I liked Kelly. I wish he woulda had a real QB at some point, but it is what it is. I find it funny that Freeman comes, we have two beast classes coming atleast, and NOW he leaves. And this is after he made that comment after the USC rumors started popping up. He's always been a bit of an a$$hole, so the ghosting stories aren't surprising. I just hope he knows what he's doing, cause he had it made here. One 4-8 season there and they'll burn him out of town with the quickness. Be careful what you wish for BK.

I don't want Urban. I know we'll win, but fukk that guy. I don't know if Freeman is ready for THIS job, but then what happens if he wants out? How much do they value him? Fickell is the one that makes the most sense to me, and Freeman came from there (Cincy) also, and it appears that he and Fickell have a good relationship, so for me I'd love to have Fickell as HC and keep Freeman as DC. We'll see though. They'll probably throw the bag at Urban.
Your gonna need urban for @clemson and @ohio state next year

Bama ass DC
Bama been showing a little chink in the armor. And LSU can recruit on their level. And with the transfer portal setup like it is it makes the playing field even more even to compete with Bama loading up on 5 stars at every position.

11-1 with a young team a year after winning the ship is a chick in the armor? :heh:
Gah damn Saban really has killed reasonable college football expectations

You talking like Bama didn’t just win the whole thing last year. That’s a hell of a chink, going from winning the title to one game away from being back in the playoff.

Getting there and being in contention every season is a win. He’s now entering a place where he can’t lose 2 games in a tougher environment. Just needed better QB play at ND. I’m pretty shocked by this move tbh. I guess I get it, it’s an elite position but so is ND

Getting there is a win, but does it matter if you get owned at the end of the season? He'd going to have a tougher time getting to the big dance, but he has a better chance of competing if he gets there now. Weird move but I get it. QB play has always been a problem but he's not gonna get the top recruits and he knows that.

Yea. I don't really feel anything to be honest. I mean how many times did we think he was gonna be gone? Meh, life goes on.

Not just an elite QB. Notre Dame needed more talent across the board.

...and an elite QB isn't exactly an easy grab. Most top schools get one of those every 5-10 years.
