Breaking Bad doesn't deserve to sit at the table with The Sopranos and The Wire

Is Breaking Bad GOAT status?

I'd argue Boardwalk as well.

A year after the final season it's dawned on me I have very little interest in ever rewatching the series. I think the problem is Breaking Bad's strengths were creating scenarios for it's characters that had you on the edge of your seat wondering how they'd get out of it or what would happen next but once you know the outcome then there's not much incentive to rewatch.

Walt's character arc while interesting is clumsily handled on a number of occasions and way too heavy handed at times.

And for a such a popular show it amazes me how more annoying and unlikeable characters there are. Gus and Mike were the only characters in the show I wouldn't have enjoyed watching their heads get caved in with a fire extinguisher, that includes Walt and Jessie. That's not saying Walt wasn't a compelling character but an annoying one at times all the same.

And let's not even mention that mediocre ass run of the mill finale.

I'm just ranting, brehs. Don't even mind me. I'm sure this thread has been done a million times but I had to get it out, too much stannery going on :shaq2:

The Sopranos is overrated as fukk. That first season was epic but every season afterwards was basically great acting and subpar storytelling.
The Sopranos isn't even the best HBO show and it damn sure aint better than Breaking Bad or the Wire.
Now with that being said:

I feel you OP. I got Mad Men, Sopranos, Wire and Boardwalk above BB. Breaking Bad is the only mainstream show that I don't have a favourite character for. I don't know what that says about the show itself, but yeah, it ain't up at the elite level for me.

I was with you until you placed Boardwalk empire up there with the Sopranos and the Wire....

Boardwalk is not even on the same level as Breaking Bad which I argue is one of the best written shows in tv history...

Breaking Bad is still one of the greatest ever, but its not touching tv perfection like Sopranos, Wire, and X-Files

Boardwalk is not even in the conversation

The only thing I agree with in your post is the fact that the finale was non lasting. It was good at first and after a few days kept people talking, but its the last thing to come up during a BB conversation. I have yet to start Sopranos, I think The Wire is GOAT along with BB, and im at the end of season 4 of The Shield (overrated as fukk, has nothing on season 1 of Gang Related but cant stop watching cause of the random ass storylines). I never have or never will watch Game Of Thrones, I could care less about some ole King Arthur and The Knights Of Justice ass setting, shyt does not interest me at all no matter how much internet nerds hype it up. But what the fukk do I know though????????:sas2:

Whoever it was that told me that, fukk YOU BRO, I cant stop watching this bullshyt :to:

honestly i'm not sure i would put the wire at the same table as sopranos either. :mjpls:

:whoa: i know that's gonna cause a ruckus but the thing that holds the wire back for me is that you can't tell me that you were interested in EVERY single angle. A LOT of that show is wasted on characters we care very little about spewing lots and lots of exposition. i know it was all apart of a greater story... and really you could argue that the main character was the city of baltimore itself... but some of the shyt in the wire is PAINFUL to sit through. scenes of muthafukkas acquiring permits, govt nikkas talkin about budgets and legislation, school districts etc. it makes for fascinating education and really does give you a first hand look behind the scenes of a corrupt system... but at the end of the day it's really the character stuff you remember most.

that's why i put sopranos over the wire cause it was all character stuff. people you actually got to know and care about.
