shyt is horrible. I don't want to even imagine what goes through a person's mind as the collapse happens, as well as in the hours afterwards. No amount of well wishes can remedy this situation.
I moved to Boston the year of the collapse. However, prior to that I was graduate student and lived at that apartment building in the background for two years.
A bridge definitely needed to be built because:
--8th street is one of the busiest streets in the county (shyts a free-for-all the further West you go)
--Miami nikkas don't give nary a fukk about safe driving/rules of the road (both native and international drivers)
--That off campus student housing area is literally next door to one of the largest universities in the country (jits driving with no damn sense)
The problem is that they rushed the bridges's construction. The infrastructure is actually still there (ongoing investigation).
