Im in North Miami Beach about 5 miles from where this happened.

There is no way this happened suddenly. Structures like this dont just suddenly give in. I'm sure there were sign of the building's structural foundation reaching critical point and perhaps the property management company ignored it. Just wait for the discoveries in the lawsuits and you'll see. I guarantee you that within the last 5 to 10 or even 20 years some engineer did an inspection on that building and reported some structural concerns. It was either ignored or categorized as less significant than it is. But im sure someone saw something in the past 10 to 20 years during structural inspection.

Now you bet every building nearby gonna have thorough inspections done even if they just did one months ago.

They already pretty much said this was the case:

Condo Collapse: Champlain Towers In Surfside Was Due For 40-Year Inspection

CBS4’s Jim DeFede spoke with Ken Direktor, the attorney for the Surfside building. He said that the building had begun undergoing an inspection review process. He said that they had identified some issues with the building and that they had hired contractors, but the building collapsed before they had a chance to address those issues.

The condo association hired an engineer to deal with structural and electrical changes for the recertification process.

Yup!

But that's not even it yet. I'm sure there will be stuff brought up from past inspections that hinted that something was wrong years ago. Buildings dont "suddenly" collapse. Support beams and other key parts will show wear and tear or dammage way before it collapses like that

100%. But greed and racism will prevent anything from being done before it’s too late. People on IG are already calling this a controlled demolition. When you can’t even agree on facts, the situation is truly hopeless. And this is before you even think about China and Russia taking advantage of this.

It’s crazy just how much America’s decline has accelerated in just the last few years. M

holy shyt :laff:

this country is toast :pachaha:

Sinking into the water since the 90s- the NINETIES, like a ticking time bomb. No govt or business entity will be untouched. Mass action lawsuits.

Living in a high rise in Florida near the beach has to invoke the worst type of paranoia ever. This after a vacationer in Disney spotted 5-7 alligators near a vacation resort. I have no reason to go to Florida before and never will. Between the Native American and slavery revolts, riots and removals - burial grounds, there is something to the historical stories being passed down about Florida being a land of negative energy and spiritual unrest. I’m going to leave it at that, before people catch feelings. That’s for another thread and another time.

Being born and bred in Miami. It has nothing to do with sinking. They use the cheapest materials to build houses and condos back in the day.

If that were the case. So many high rises would have collapsed by now.

I bet anything you want that the Brickell Centre condos won't experience this.
