Absolutely this.

NYC has the oldest city gas pipelines in America. And by like 10+ years.

ConEd is in no rush to replace it because it costs so much $$, nd creates so much business interruption. Not to mention, they have insurance against these risks, so its almost economical for them just to do nothing and hope for the best.
What is like the worst case scenario?

Them exploding and destroying the city?
Them leaking monoxide gas and killing everyone?

A few years back a whole pre war building blew up into pieces because of this. I’m pretty sure someone faced charges over this. Happened in the east village

Exactly.

Listen, they sent up a report to Congress over thirty years ago talking about how the highway system as it’s currently designed will not be able to handle the expected traffic in correlation with population growth. They recommended upgrades on all major bridges connected to major interstates and making it standard three lanes instead of two. They were very focused on the bridges BACK THEN..in the goddamn nineties.

NOW you’re getting some of these governments panicking trying to catch up..for example, here in Charlotte, 85 south (at the state line) going down towards Atlanta USED to be a two lane highway..well, BMW opened up a factory in Spartanburg that provoked more traffic and the highway itself was already in disrepair. So these nikkas in SC have been struggling to make this highway three lanes for over five years and now they’re already rethinking that they needed to make that 85 stretch FOUR lanes instead of three..inept leadership.
can you link the article

Damn Same thing happening across America. Im in Dallas. Atmos (Natural Gas provider) has these old azz lines that was exploding everywhere killing families. They had to replace so many miles of gas lines that was much needed. I can only imagine a place like Manhattan.

That Flint situation is happening all across America, probably not to that extent. There's so many areas that still used iron pipes from the 40's to distribute water.

The Trump Administration pretty much removed all regulations for developers and builders. We shall see the ramifications in the next 10 years. They building homes all in floodplains.

Corruption and Greed what it all comes down to.

That left pic makes the building look crusty as hell.

Unless that building is empty hard to believe only 51 people are missing, especially as it happened overnight
