I know, he didn’t play as good as Messi did during this tournament or the WC in 2014 but at the end of the day Copa happens every year and Argentina are usually among the favorites, eventually they were going to win. France & Germany were the clear favorites in Euro 2016, I doubt many people outside of Portugal had Portugal winning.

Legit happy for Messi

Only thing that was missing for him was a major title with the NT. Man already had 3 finals but he would have end up a forever loser for his country if he had lost that one. Beat up an almost invicible Brazil on their soil while being best player of the tournament (and top scorer + top assister). Didnt have a good final but it doesnt matter.

A copa is not a WC obviously and I'm sure he would have traded a win in 2014 for this but still a proper title.

One thing though regarding Neymar is that it doesnt matter how good a player you are, footy still a collective sport. It took Messi 15 years and 4 finals to finally get a W. I hope Neymar also lifts some silverware with Brazil as it seems that he really cares about the NT.
