The demo on this site may skew more heavier onto Monica's discog because her music has more edge and is catered towards more adult friendly themes, but I think a lot of ppl here are underestimating Brandy's culture capital. Her music and the influence of her voice has shaped the RnB landscape.. Believe it or not, most RnB singers (Chris Brown, Jazmine Sullivan, Jojo, Beyonce HER even Tank and almost every contemporary gospel singer) is influenced by her stacking/layering of harmonies, her vocal stylings etc. You won't find ONE accomplished vocalist that won't praise her for being a pillar in the genre. Not only that but her cross over appeal and dominance in different lanes sort of engrained her history. To be honest Brandy has deep cut album tracks and features that are more known and valued than Monica's known singles.

Brandy got movie soundtracks and show themes that is going to body any Monica top 10 just off principle

All three of these songs are bonefide CLASSICS and 'iconic' ..that's not even going into her own discography.. the 1, 2 punch of Never Say Never and Full Moon (almost every track gone win) gonna seal the deal. I see all type of celebrities, all ages, background tuning into this.. Stan culture gonna turn it up a notch. They finna eat, doe..

and if they singing live..

welp..

Yeah them singing live would tip the scales in Brandy's favor.

Monica can sing very well no doubt, but she's not as diverse as Brandy is. Brandy has waaaaay more range. There's a reason they called her "The Vocal Bible"

That being said, I prefer Monica's music to Brandy's even though they both got classics :manny:

None of that is going to be factored into this battle though. What is going to matter is the song selection and the songs they choose to respond with. If any of that was a factor, most of these would be over before they started.

Any of those 3 songs played at any given point of the battle is winning.. The nostalgia is strong in these cuts because the entities that they’re attached to (Moesha, Set It Off and The Black Cinderella) are cultural hallmarks. Any Monica chart topper is losing to those songs because of the wide appeal and barriers it crossed. I could be wrong, but brandy got them RnB haymakers. realistically I see Monica taking 5-6.. She’ll get the edge on some of her mid 00s hits like Should’ve Known Better and late 00s Everything to Me type joints.

The "Set It Off" joint yes, but would Brandy really play the Moesha theme or "Black Cinderella" (especially this song). Again, people are sleeping on Monica. "First Night", "Angel Of Mine", "Before You Walk Out My Life", "Why I Love You So Much" are all songs that would put up heavy competition against ANYTHING Brandy could play.

I’ll tune in for nostalgia reasons becuz most of their music came out during my hs days but I wasn’t really a fan of any of their music except for a few songs here and there. They both can sing their asses off tho

The pettiness is strong in Brandy.. I see her opening the battle up with the Moesha theme.. Twitter and IG gonna implode. adding a Whitney Houston feature for a Disney movie would be casual flex..Angel of Mine and Why I Love you So Much gone do some damage for sure, but Brandy’s counter jabs gone edge it out.. Broken Hearted, Baby and I Wanna Be Down.. add in Sittin Up in My Room and it’s a knock out. That’s all from Brandy’s first era along with Missing You. Haven’t even touched her sophomore album yet. by that point Brandy don’t stacked up 4-5 wins from the first wave. She loses steam towards the back end of her discography, so she’ll bring out soundtracks/features all that. her brand and dominance in that period is going to give her the leverage. the hard part is navigating through Never Say Never and Afrodisiac. Monica’s going to have save her heat and bludgeon Brandy w/the flop Human Era and lukewarm 2/11. it’s not a landslide in either direction, but Monica really has to play her cards right.
