how old are you breh. Queen Aaliyah was right there hit for hit song for song and really took off when she started in movies.

im old enough to remember when shanice was the r&b princess. long before aaliyah, brandy, monica, etc were even around.

the argument was always brandy versus monica. nobody ever interjected aaliyah into the conversation.

aaliyah didnt have the albums like monica & brandy, and she was nowhere near their level in terms of talent.
aaliyah could go toe-to-toe with them on the singles tho, but that was moreso a product of having prime timbo & missy, and the goat r.kelly at his absolute peak.
aaliyah wasnt a good singer, nor did she do any writing or producing to make up for it. she also wasnt a good performer, and from what i hear, she wasnt a good actor either.

very inciteful posting.
