It's interesting that people say that asking for help from the government is futile but our ancestors have done that time after time since we have been here. The results may not have been ideal but it has provided us with some gains. IMO part of the reason why we don't get more is that we become complacent in our politics, we are less organized and not advocating for our communities.

For example many people on this forum (myself included) supported the idea of withholding our vote during the past election to make a statement. On the surface it was a great idea but it lacked a forward vision or any real goal past making sure Hilary didn't get elected. There seems to be a disconnect that the overall goal was to use our vote or in this case lack of voting as leverage to get politicians (particularly Democrats) to pay attention to our needs as a community and to meet those needs. Yet when someone like Yvette who talks about this consistently says things like this she is immediately dismissed as "begging for help from the government".

In other words Tariq can advocate we withhold our vote to make a statement and it's seen as a wise move but then Yvette advocates we go more in-depth with the strategy and it's viewed in a completely different light.

Depending on what study you look for in wealth valuation, the gap may not be an illusion, but the notion that black americans have no wealth or only 4k wealth is questionable IMO

• 40 million of us, 14 million families
• There are only about 380,000 black people looking at $1 million and up
• Most of them are baby boomers (51-71 years old)
• Young black millionaires are rare
• We don't own land or manufacturing infastructure
• Our unemployment is outta control

Especially since 90% of black businesses are just self employed people

Meaning 10% of black business have atleast 2 employees

And it's getting worst





People call it foolish to demand reparations, but, slavery is how we got here
