Honestly, i just want to know what is it about MMA that makes some of you just absolutely refuse to acknowledge anything about it?

Sometimes a MMA fan will create a thread about a certain fighter or something MMA related and thats when you see some of the dumbest opinions ever. Like i've seen with my own eyes people on this site bash MMA because they say its a "white people sport" and only "drunk rednecks" love this type of spectacle. To me that makes no sense since out of the 8 champions in the biggest organization of the sport, the UFC, theres only ONE "white" champion and hes a canadian whos an extremely gifted athlete.

I've seen others compare it to WWE which makes no sense at all, this is a sport where two dudes are locked into a cage and anything can fukking happen

Of course you're going to have your boring fights, especially if its a guy who spent his whole life doing amateur wrestling in high school/college, and he goes in and starts taking his opponent down and smothering him on the ground just to take away any advantage the opponent might have.

But then you have the gifted fighters with a legendary aura. A guy like Anderson Silva, who not only can counter that wrestling with his Braziliian Jiu-Jitsu and make his opponent tap to either a choke or a arm/leg lock and make him tap when it DOES goes to the ground. On top of that he has this matrix level of striking where no one ever seems to be on his level, he makes good fighters look fukking terrible..and ONLY HE CAN DO IT..thats what makes a guy like him legendary, bruce lee like almost...that dude is the real deal...and we got a handful of guy just like that in this sport who are just amazing to watch

I know some of you boxing fans hate the stance that MMA guys take when fighting, but you gotta understand they're not just defending uppercuts, hooks, jabs and body shots...they trying to defend takedowns, clinches, or some unorthodox striking like a spinning back kick to the face, a flying knee etc..

I love MMA and i faithfully watch it all the time, it just bothers me when people hate it for no reason..and i think for the most part, people just dont understand the sport so they talk shyt about it..i just want to hear different opinions...

heres a video of the top 10 knockouts in MMA which i think is pretty accurate..just MUTE THAT shyt, TERRIBLE MUSIC to go along with it..but video is pretty spot on

this is what the problem is...a BIG FIGHT..is a BIG FIGHT...

the only fight ya had that wouldve been EPIC is mayweather vs pacman and that shyt now is tainted as fukk..

Anderson Silva vs Jon Jones would be bigger than any fight that boxing could put together right now...Mayweather vs pac wouldve been on another level but pac fukked that shyt up for himself

I enjoy MMA, I just like boxing more :manny:

To me, Boxing is far more technical and I appreciate the thinking and strategy in it.

Boxing is more technical from a plain BOXING perspective

As far as a real FIGHT, you cant just rely on your boxing when you fighting someone whos trained in other Martial Arts...you just cant. You cant say boxing is more technical than MMA because in MMA you gotta defend a takedown, know how to block submissions on the ground, be able to check kicks, know how to handle yourself in a clinch position...with all of those variables, how is boxing more TECHNICAL?...

Pure boxing is way more technical than MMA boxing, but to say boxing is more technical than MMA as a whole is just wrong on many levels

When people think of a fight, they think of people throwin hands, not 2 brehs on the ground with one on top of the other not really do much. Unless there are transitions goin on, the ground fightin can be boring, especially if the figter who does the takin down only does it to score a takedown or to rest and not do much else.

I really think UFC ruined it for me. Pride use to get me hyped with those entrances and fights. I know im not the only one who lost interest after UFC became only MMA

this is another problem im going to adress

why do boxing fans act like theres never been a boring boxin fight ever? theres TONS of boring boxing fights, in every sports you get a boring matchup..its just the way it is

MMA does have boring match ups and even the president of the UFC goes out his way to talk shyt about fighters who participate in those type of fights, he always tells them "dont leave it to the hands of the judges"...he pays fighters extra when they go out trying to kill each other not just win on points

No, boxing actually is more technical and has 100+ years behind it, sorry but when I watch MMA stuff I have to remember not to critique them like I would a boxer. I see dudes throw shytty looking punches and look completely lost when they fight southpaws too, that's part of the reason why Anderson has laid waste to so many folks. They don't do things boxers would do to take away that advantage, something as simple as getting your lead foot outside their lead foot :manny:

When someone like Brock Lesnar can come in off the street and become a champ in relatively no time, you can't talk about the technical skills matching boxing. I get it, he was a great wrestler in college, but a great golden gloves boxer that turns pro after 10+ years of not participating in the sport will get lit the fukk up against a champion.

The culture/fans of each respective sport seem to be why there's that divide. Even though the culture has changed quite a bit since the mid 2000's, a lot of boxing heads still see mma fans as "white boys in glittery affliction shirts" which just isn't the case, half your favorite athletes cross train mma for a real reason.

And the idea that a fight is simply throwing hands is short sighted nowadays.

I love and enjoy both sports, always have. .. since they both scratch that same itch and that's to see two people push themselves to the brink and who has it in them to dig down and take what's theirs

as soon as brock fought someone that wasnt old and can actually strike...he got beat the fukk up and retired, he came into MMA during its infant stage...you got way more talented fighters now that you did during his era

And yea of course you got guys that dont throw punches as crisp as a boxer, because they started training MMA not boxing. Same can be said about a guy who throws sloppy kicks, a kickboxing fanatic can come in and talk about how wrong hes doing it..that doesnt mean its the whole sport in a nutshell, the shyt is a blend of all these martial arts together so of course its not going to look as a pretty as a stand alone sport like boxing or kickboxing.

And thats just some guys, you got champions/elite level fighters who are crisp in every aspect of the sport

I think the main problem MMA has with most people who find a lot of fights boring is that they just flat out don't understand all of the various disciplines that go into it. There is SO MUCH to be accounted for in a fight. A lot of people don't ooo and ahh over the intricacies of a really good BJJ guy, or a wrestler grappling for position.

Another thing is that the striking is SO different. Boxing is more smooth and beautiful to look at, but in an MMA fight, you have to be aware of so much more, it is going to be a lot uglier looking, because you have to be ready for a leg kick or a guy shooting for a takedown.

I understand why people feel this way, but I think if they took more time to learn all the ins and outs of the sport, they'd see why so many people find it so exciting
