If anybody wants to see how much Power Disney yields already, and how them buying Fox is going to make it even worse, look no further than Christopher Robin.
The film has been out 4 weeks,is barely making money, and yet the theatre losses make absolutely no sense in comparison to its performance.
The movie is losing less theatres than mission impossible every weekend, yet is making less and has a lower theatre average.
Compare it to the skyscraper. A film that made almost the exact same amount of money it’s first 2 weekends. On weekend 3 after the customary standard 2 week expansion for films, skyscraper lost over 1000+ theatres. By weekend 4,it lost another 1000+. In comparison Christopher Robin lost 0 theatres after weekend 3,and only lost 208 this weekend. It’s playing in more theatres than most of the top 10 despite barely making money.
1 studio having this much power is not healthy for the film industry.
