who hasn't been in a position to resign their drafted guys when they actually wanted to?

the last time this was a big deal it was dallas/brunson, and they fukked that up themselves playing games
I'm predicting this being a bigger issue going forward with second apron restrictions.

you have to aggressively seek the doomsday apron through timing extensions alongside trades/free agency - it'll never sneak up on a team and it'll never 'restrict' a young team from keeping a key young player if their primary goal is to actually retain them. phoenix tripled down on the dumb shyt.

i'm really not sure why people are shook when phoenix's new owner went out of their way to fukk themselves in spite of years *great* roster construction by a guy still in their organization. and what's completely glossed over in all this is that its dramatically easier to divest of guys when you're above these thresholds than its been in the past.

milwaukee isn't in this mess, boston is happy to be in it because it was actually successful for them, philly laid out an excellent short term plan, memphis played their cards right in advance, etc. this cba ain't perfect, but its literally not the issue many are painting it as

And that as much as ppl try pointing at the cba for “forcing” DEN out of resigning KCP… let’s also acknowledge that KCP was mostly non-impactful hot trash for the entirety of DEN’s 2024 playoff run.

And that DEN’s success for that run and future ones always hinged on MAGA Jr becoming that (3rd) guy consistently. If he’s not, you make decisions to trade him or hope he pans out, and that’s the game you and all the other teams play when you hand out those contracts.

Sure it’s easier to make dumb decisions then be frustrated when you can’t throw more money at it when it fails (PHX), but teams gotta be a bit smarter now.

Milwaukee has a mess of their own as they're maxed out with no control of their first or second round picks going forward, so they don't have to worry about the 2nd tax apron messing up their picks :mjlol:

They're in a worse situation than Phoenix going forward that doesn't get talked about.

Why the fukk would we do that? :scust:

We still dont have a true PF.

Kuz is under contract for the next 3 years and he's pretty cheap compared to what nikkas are getting paid now. His final year he's only getting paid 19m

Him as the 4th or 5th option while still being under the 2nd apron is fine by me.
