It has nothing to do with US citizens.
The bombers were 2nd gen. They'd never been to Cechnia. But the notion that their homeland was struggling against a European (if that term even applies to Russia) invader seeking to suppress a radical Muslim identity probably made the mental leap to domestic terrorism easier.
They already had already associated the title of "Western oppressor" to Russia. From there, they just had to make the same connection for their current environment.
The country's post 9/11 biases concerning Islam probably made that transition even simpler.
Do you care when he says things like "Watch Rosewood, go outside and slap a 'cracker'"...
So basically, they don't realize how this is counterproductive to their own cause? I mean if you watched Fox News this morning... you noticed that they seemed like the busted a nut every time they said the word Muslim. Gun control people, anti immigration people, anti obama GOP, anti Muslim people..... all are drooling at the mouth cuz of this sh1t.
Los Angeles. They know better than to bring that shyt around here. We keep our cacs in check round here. Everyone just does their own thing and stays out of each others way. Boston is a bigoted place filled with hate. Its easy to make enemies there. A cac will walk up to you in boston and ask you.

Well it's not really "their" cause in the sense that they have never been to Cechnia and fought. They are 2nd generation sympathizers.
I don't think this is counterproductive in any way, though it certainly isn't helpful. Russia has and will continue to do whatever it wants in the region.
This bombing just means that America will be more reticent to give help that it never gave in the first place.
Yes, Fox News sucks. These aren't middle-easterners. They're...different. Much more urban. I would venture to say they are somewhat more educated as well, since many go to school in Russia.
