Just closed The Caves of Steel by Isaac Asimov. I'm guessing this is book 1 in the Robot series and I, Robot was 0.5.
Great book. Loved it more than I, Robot. I knew it was a murder mystery but didn't expect the added layer of robot discrimination. I wonder if Asimov was inspired by what was going on with race relations in the States at the time because some of the stuff people were saying in the book about robots felt like was taken from real life with what whites were saying about black folks

Anybody read this yet? I got the book sitting around in a pile of books waiting to be read sometime this year. I've noticed she is have a moment right now with The Reformatory and I am glad to see more black authors in the science fiction and horror space get some shine. It also seems like Octavia Butler is getting more attention since COVID with Parable of the Sower

Read the short story/original version of Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes

Reading Charlie's last two reports was tough :to:

Another short story I read today was Nine Billion Names of God by Arthur C Clarke. Nice little story whose ending reminded me a bit of the ending of Childhood's End

1/3 of the way and im intrigued so far...some guy seems to be living in this massive castle with this other guy with no name. we're not sure how they got there but slowly we get details about this place...seems like some supernatural elements at play here. Lots of questions than there are answers

as im reading. im getting Jacob vs MIB vibes from the TV show Lost :jbhmm:

Flew thru these two right here. It was my first time(s) reading anything by this author & I'm not mad at all :ehh:

Cuh has a very raw & visceral storytelling pen that is both gritty & cinematic.

Blacktop was pretty much damn near an action movie and you can feel the desperation from da main breh throughout the entire thing leaking off the pgs.

All Sinners Bleed was prob my fav of the 2 if I had to choose. Kind of gave me urban True Detective vibes at times with the religion, crime, set in the South.

Very unapologetic & emotionally charged work by S.A. Cosby who might need sum new initials in front of dat name :what:

Took a little break from science fiction and fantasy, and read Cannery Row by John Steinbeck.
I can tell Stephen King (at least the early part of his career) was greatly influenced by Steinbeck. I can see elements of Cannery Row in 'salem's Lot.

I read Blacktop Wasteland around the time it came out (2018?) and I'm surprised it hasn't been considered for a film adaptation
