First off, PLEX is now available for XB1
If you don't know what that is, basically its a conduit of sorts that essentially turns your XB1 into XBMC
Yep, you can holla at the TR's or the Big B's and then have that shyt set up like a boss

But, there are more ways to grub. And I think its time the coli stops witht he bullshytl.
OneDrive allows you to store movies, then you can watch them via the onedrive app

You can also share those movies with friends, and they will show up in the OneGuide (aka TV guide for xbox)
The bootleg fear was that since you sharing bootleg content Microsoft would shutdown your account

2ndly, I been pimpin for close to year now via XB1, and about 3yrs via PC/cellphone/etc

My baby boy misplaced the Samsung TV remote & I had a different HDMI source up(Watching From Chromecast).

So I finally get a chance because the wife & kids are asleep & I can't switch inputs...I tore the Living Room up...

I had to wake my wife up & get her phone because she had the TV Remote app... I lost 40 minutes looking for that Remote...still haven't found it.

I bring that up because I wish they'd update the xbox to be able to control the TV more than just Volume up or down.

"XBOX SWITCH INPUT"... If they do that, then it would truly be the Media Hub.

Xbox is not designed so you will be using another source aside from your cable box. as being your one NON internet source. Anything going over the net. Xbox would like for you to use one of their apps. So like you said it can be that media hub. its not trying to have you hook up a thousand different things to it so it turns into a splicer.
shoot i wouldnt be surprised if Xbox tried to throw a Coax input in the back. so you can just skip the cable box once they bring that DVR funcationality in. complete DVR funcationality(recording times, etc). we dont need cable boxes anyway. the signal is coming thru the coax wire. They force you to have the box to watch other non basic cable channels. but knowing we can now watch those same channels online if we log on to our cable provider. tells me we dont need that box AT ALL. straight Coax to the box or even the ps4 in the future(but they are just a "gaming system") . That covers your basic hard wired TV stuff. for everything online. xbox wants you to use their apps.

Remember when these consoles were rumored to be dropped. And once we all put two and two together and thought about all the apps the 360 was getting. Then you add in that HDMI thru, the One Guide, controlling your tv. we were like oh i see, these fools is trying to replace the cable box and become your TV box. like you said, we are doing two things now we are watching cable via the cable box(old school) and running stuff off of phones, tablets, and computers via the net(netflix, etc). Or some have just ditched cable and their ridiculous prices altogether and said internet shows only.
X wants to be the ONE and only box in your living room. you can now go back to using your laptop for other things. no longer do you have to use it to watch TV. at least not when you're at home.

But truthfully if enough people complain about what you said. they might throw folks a bone in an update. it really cant be that hard. i assume they only checked off on/off and volume up/down as what codes they want from the remotes. thats their choice. they could've had everything down to your TV's settings, etc.

@DPresidential those wondering how to change the source of your TV without the controller. I was messing around with the Xbox One Smartglass app and if you are on the TV page you can scroll down and there is a button to change the source. I was using my Samsung Note 3 I'm not sure if its different on iOS.
