So if we have to face an Embiid less Sixers team how do you see us attacking/defending them?

Defensively I feel much better about guarding this lineup for 48 minutes especially in the half court. Simmons is only shooting within 15 ft so Clint can either sag off and still roam the paint and own the boards. I’d put Hunter on Harris, John on Thybulle, Trae on Green, Bogi on Curry. I don’t feel like this is a lineup that is going to consistently threaten us offensively

Defensively Philly is very good and has numerous guys who they will throw at Trae (Thybulle, Hill, Simmons, Green). I don’t see that working for long stretches though especially depending on who the roll man is (Cap or JC) are gonna run wide open to the rim on lobs. Philly will have to pick their poison. Trae dancing in the lane with floaters/lobs or shooting them out the gym

Didn’t wanna mention this but in two games vs Philly Trae averaged 38 & 8 per 36 minutes. Not that matters now but just to say he’s had success vs Philly

Simmons and Tobi are gonna hunt for the mismatches and post up smaller players in the post and force y’all to trap or double which will leave shooters like Green, Curry and Korkmaz wide open.

Capella is gonna have to contain Simmons in transition who is gonna be bulldozing into the paint for layups or kicking it out for shooters. With no Embiid we will play at a very fast pace.

Things that will cause us problems are if the Hawks get hot from 3, Trae young getting Simmons/Thybulle in foul trouble or if our offense stalls and we can’t make shots for long periods of time because Atlanta is an elite offensive team in the NBA, however we are elite defensively. Bradley Beal the second leading scorer in the league had to work hard af to score against Simmons and Thybulle and at times couldn’t get a shot off due to the swarming traps and coverages we played. Beal still averaged 30 but it ended up not being enough, Trae Young will have to outperform Beal and I don’t see that happening.

You’re so misinformed that it’s not even worth debating, you don’t get to be the number 1 seed without playing good without Embiid, we literally have to do it every season for large stretches of time, Ben Simmons has never lost to the Knicks in his entire career

Once Trae has the ball in his hands, Matisse is easy money for Trigga.

Simmons can't guard Trae and never has been able to. Ya'll were the first ones who did the box in 1 to Trae during his rookie year. Couldnt do shyt with him. Y'all even hard doubled and defended him full court.

Without Embiid, your team is a +0.2. The offense is generally tragic without him. Your team lacks shooting. Too reliant on Embiid. Depth is better than previous years but still an issue. Mike Scott is washed more than even Lou. Ya'll only saving grace is Jojo. That's it. Otherwise, I don't think you guys are even a playin team. You are right there with the Bulls. Honestly, your more of a regular season team than the Knicks without Embiid.

Embiid is legit. He's a modern Hakeem with a lot more size and a lot less mobility. He's an once in a generation guy. We hope Trae gets to that level and think its possible he could.

Korkmaz is a player for Atlanta to watch for like Quickley was in the last series. Versatile offensive wing with a nice shooting touch. He's someone can match Kevin but not the defender Kevin has become.

Simmons ain't getting to the basket much. He will be like Randle. We will make him hate our scheme. He's the one we are scheming the most. Not Tobi or Embiid. Simmons. We make him garbage, this becomes an one man show. Tobi cancels out JC.

It will be rare Trae will Iso those guys unless it's late. With a hobbled Embiid and the worst PnR defender in the NBA in Howard, we are going to spam the PnR with Hunter, Trae, and Bogi. Not to mention Lou, and Kevin. The Sixers are one of the worst in the NBA at defending it and we are one of the best at doing it. Makes no sense to do otherwise.

I think the one thing about Trae is that his best skill is his vision and passing ability. You mentioned Beal and while Trae can put up 30 like Trae he’s much rather control the game with tempo/pace and passing than his scoring. That’s where we’ve seen the biggest growth this year from last year is being a more willing passer (he has much better teammates this year which helps).

So if the goal is to stop him from scoring he’s going to look to involve the team by passing out of double teams and setting his teammates to score

As for y’all Simmons at the 5 won’t be able to post up on Capela and Tobias won’t be able to post up DeAndre or JC. We’ll pack the paint on Simmons and force Tobias to make shots to beat us

This series is going to be interesting b/c of the chess matches. Without Embiid it’s a true toss up but I give us the slight edge. I’m anticipating an excellent series breh
