But the school caught a lot of backlash.

There wasn't a blessing or anything like that. NCAA pretty much forced them to remove the mascot if they wanted to host NCAA events.

The shyt started off as some bullshyt halftime show in like the 20's around Thanksgiving when they had some white kid dressed up in "Indian attire" and give someone dressed like Ben Franklin a peace pipe. The character was liked, so they kept using him and he became the "mascot" for the school.

Native Americans didn't fukk with that.

I'm white and don't find this offensive at all, the ones that are bothered by this are the same ones supporting Cleveland's old logo and Washington DC's football team keeping its name. Hope Jones doesn't get fined or receive any kind of repurcussion for this.
