:/ Caucasian is used in the right way considering "Indians" aren't from India and "Caucasians" aren't from the Caucas Mountains. They're names given by people who thought they found them.
But Native Americans did not think they were living in India :heh: One name was given by a group to themselves, the other was mistakenly bestowed upon a group that had no say in it.

honestly though i'm surprised he did this. i listen to his regular podcast (the evening jones) about social issues and music etc. he always seems scared to say the wrong thing that will get him in trouble at work. same thing whenever he brings up political issues on his regular espn radio show. he's very careful about how he words everything and what he comments on. this seems somewhat reckless since it's gonna clearly upset the higher ups.

glad he did it though. :wow:

Its not that Bo is scared at all, he's not, he is just articulate and knows to use the correct word choice to get his point across and still not cross a line. This shirt is just another example.

Caucasians is not a racial slur at all, its considered to be the technical term for white people despite it still being very vague. If the shirt had said Honkeys or Crackkkas, that's outright offensive and he could be fired for that. They don't have any technical grounds to hang him on his current shirt tho, its like if he wore an Indians shirt instead. He treaded the line perfectly here.

Just because white people have accepted Caucasian doesn't change the fact that they aren't and weren't Caucasian just like natives aren't and weren't Indians.

White people didn't wake up one day and say "you know what, I am Caucasian" one person who was trying to say white people were the first people and found bones in the area of the Caucas Montains decided that white people are Caucasian.

i.e, given names by people who thought they found them.

Bomani Jones is what SAS was on track to becoming before the ESPN suits got to him and I bet it kills SAS inside that Bomani still became big without having to c00n and throw black people under the bus. I honestly don't see Bomani lasting on ESPN too much longer....he's too real and probably has "fukk you" money saved up whenever he's gone.

I think he's built up a solid fanbase that'll go where ever he goes.

Jones continued to ESPN’s Molly Qerim:

To have a problem with the the logo of this (pointing to his shirt) would be to have a problem with the Indians. But if you’re quiet about the Indians but have something to say about my shirt, I think it’s time for introspection.”

Jones also spoke about other Native American-based mascots in sports:

The tomahawk on the Braves jersey — I grew up rooting for that team. There’s no defense for doing that. Like the Indians logo. There’s no defense for doing that… Why would you make these people a mascot? Well, it’s based on the stereotypes we’ve had of them in the past. What would be the justification for keeping them — or the need. And then Washington, where it’s just a slur — a flat-out slur.”

ESPN Told Bomani Jones To Cover Up His ‘Caucasians’ Shirt On 'Mike & Mike' Show

According to TMZ, Jones was “asked to cover up” the T-shirt during Thursday’s show, and eventually, in the middle of the broadcast, Jones “slightly compromised and partially zipped up the front of his hoodie … hiding part of the image.”

Upon request for comment, ESPN sent The Huffington Post the following statement: “As the show progressed, we felt Bomani made his point and had openly discussed why he was wearing the shirt, and we wanted to keep the focus to the topics of the day.”
