I caved and got the basic black vinyl on Discogs. If anyone wants to look on there, the prices have gone down significantly. It's still overpriced IMO, but it's not as terrible and absurd as it was right after the drop.

In His Own Words: Boldy James on How Signing With Griselda Gave Him His "Second Wind"

On meeting JAY-Z.

I met JAY-Z backstage at a Griselda performance, our last show [before COVID-19] in LA. Me and Benny [The Butcher] had did “Scrape the Bowl,” so after we get finished, I fall back because my part of the performance is over with. I had forgot to eat and I was drinking Hennessy that day, so I was a little dizzy. I told my homeboy, “Yo, let’s go back to the dressing room type shyt, my head is spinning.” We go back to the dressing room and right when we get to the back I see JAY-Z coming from backstage and he’s approaching me. so I’m thinking, like, “Damn, what do I say? This is Hov.” I’ve been wanting to meet this nikka and tell him how much I admire and fukk with what he’s been doing musically since the time I first got up on it. I didn’t even get to say nothing. He just walked up to me like, “Yo, Mr. Boldy James, you have an incredible pen. Your new shyt is all I’ve been riding to. Keep up the good work, kid.” It’s just like, damn. My favorite hustler of all times in the rap game is telling me that I have an incredible pen. It just pushed me and let me know to keep working, and the sky is the limit with this shyt if you really focus in on your craft and lock-in.

Bernadines would’ve fit perfect on the OG. It’s getting cold and winter is coming, I feel like I’m going to be bumping this more.
If you re-arrange the playlist to just have it as Phone Bill then Bernadines then Belvedere that's the best version of the album. Maybe put Din Flamingo in them. But IMO having Pots and Pans right after Phone Bill and having Don Flamingo as the closer really makes the last 4 joints sound more like bonus joints and less like an actual album. I know that's crazy stupid armchair A&R work but throw Bernadines and Belvedere on right after Phone Bill and tell me that ain't the way to go.

Pinto possibly the same sample as Floor Seats? I’m not asking for what the sample is if anyone knows. Just curious if it’s the same.

Thought the same actually.

I follow it pretty closely. What'd you wind up dropping?

I'd cop both if I could, that's dope. I like the fact Alfredo was readily available. Hopefully Alc goes that route.
I think he's gonna move towards pre-orders. I know he said he was leaning towards it for the China Deluxe. I think the Lulu Special Edition may be pressed up already in limited quantity so it might be too late for those to be a pre-order.

The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in combat
My young'uns signing on the dot and killing for them contracts
A hundred rounds quick to run a nikka in the ground
Run off, we go on the manhunt to run that nikka down
Tryna run me up a hundred, had to dumb it down
Ran into my ex and now she giving me the run around
Got your bytch running errands cause we run the town
I don’t need a clearance—tell them nikkas, “Move the fukk around”
Been tryna run this shyt back up, this shyt been up-and-down
Runners run in packs, Off-White, Air Max runners
Nike Tech jogging fit, what I ran it up in
A bad, pretty, young bytch what I’m standing up in
Since you nikkas counting pockets and get barely-up ends
A couple loose Iraqis told her bet it up then
Running back and forth to Cali tryna catch up with Twin
My other plug from the Valley run me seven for ten
I been running all my life
Having run-ins with the law, leave the engine running
Finna run up in this bank, I’m ‘bout to run a play
Growing up as a young'un, I was a runaway
Outside in the cold with a runny nose
Roadrunning, running dope, I love to run the road
Had a run, ran it up, now we off and running
You might’ve caught me down bad but never caught me running

:wow:

I went from not liking Boldy to keeping his shyt on repeat. I seriously can't stop playing this album whenever I return to it. This is in my top 5 of the year...maybe even top 3.

That's exactly what @areohbee82 and I have been saying man. This shyt came and went for me the month it came out. I didn't think it was anything special, but I for real can't think of the last time and album got better and better with each listen for me. At least a couple of years. This dropped in February and May is when I finally liked it a little more, and then through the summer and fall it got better and better. Can't wait to listen when it's actually cold and dark outside. I also think Boldy is a very, very skilled emcee. Boldy is a very dope emcee, but it just took me a long time for his style to connect.:wow:
