No doubt. I've still been playing it all the time.Feel like this album will get major burn once fall winter hits.
This is definitely a hot take, but I think this is the best collab project Al has ever been involved in. I don't know. This album reminds me of Bandana so much, and apparently it's almost by design. Al confirmed that he as motivated to do a trilogy of albums with Boldy after seeing that MadGibbs would do Pinata, Bandana, and Montana, and that he wouldn't count M1CS as the first in the trilogy since it was so old. So if Tea in China was their Pinata, then Bo Jackson is their Bandana.
Bandana and Bo Jackson both sound really colorful and vibrant to me, and the rapping on both is borderline one dimensional, but never dull or uninteresting. Both albums have only a few features. Both albums sound great in order or on shuffle. Both albums dropped as the rapper was transitioning into a larger appeal within hip-hop, and both albums sound like the producer was really throwing them everything including the kitchen sink.
And the last time I listened to an album this much this many days after it dropped was Bandana.
Covert Coup will always be my personal favorite, but I think Bo Jackson might be the overall best album Al has done so far.
