Man....if Price of Tea was Pinata, this reminds me of Bandana. I liked Pinata more, but Bandana, and I think I'll probably like Tea China more than Bo Jackson, but I do understand that Bandana is likely better. Bandana felt more like MadGibbs was just flexing on people and showing more versatility and styles. And even the middle section of Turpentine reminds me of Crime Pays off Bandana.

There's stuff on here I've never heard from Boldy or Alc before.

I'm only on my 2nd listen right now, and I don't think it maybe sounds quite as cohesive as Price of Tea in China, but I think the highs are definitely a bit higher, and the production and rapping both sound like they're aspiring for higher levels. Speed Trap for example is wild. It's like they're moonwalking on people doing a victory lap after Boldface and Tea in China

I want to like Diamond Dallas more than I do. That's the main joint that didn't land with me on the 1st listen. My big complaint is my own fault. I listened to First 48 and Drug Zone so much the past 3 weeks...and since they're the final 2 songs...they ended to sounding like bonus joints to me on my first listen. Especially because 3rd Person reminds me of SE Gang off La Maquina which is an album loser. And I was hoping we'd get one more Trapchemist joint besides First 48 but it's all good.

This will definitely be up there for my AOTY discussion.

Gotta keep a hammer for dudes trying to nail me to the cross. :leon:

Some real smooth and understated bars on EPMD :wow:
Flight risk has me like a mixture of :picard: and :scust:
That shyt really makes me miss Prodigy :mjcry: I feel like he would've rocked on that

Nobody sounds better on ALC beats than freddie gibbs. I wish this would be a gibbs project. Hopefully the next one...
The thing is, Gibbs wouldn't have chosen these beats, and to me that's what makes the Alc and Boldy marriage so perfect. Boldy sits back and lets Alc take the wheel on that. Funny enough, Boldy does with Al what Gibbs does with Madlib. On Pinata and Bandana, Gibbs let Madlib choose the beats for him, but on Alfredo, Gibbs chose all the beats himself.

Boldy trusted Alc so much on Boldface and Tea in China that Boldy legit didn't know what songs ended up on which project. When he was asked the features for each project, he couldn't answer because he didn't know what Al was putting where.

Gibbs is a better rapper than Boldy for sure, but I don't think we're capable of getting albums that sounds quite as cohesive and Price of Tea or Bo Jackson from Gibbs and Alc. Alfredo was fire and I'm not saying Gibbs has a weak ear by any means, but I wish Gibbs would let Alc choose the beats on their next one.

Does anyone know the name of the joint that plays here at 3:05 at the end of Turpentine when Al is making the Brickmile beat?

Also, I'm guessing this Tru to the Game might go on the deluxe version

Al’s best album of beats of all time, right next to Covert Coup, but really, just too soon to tell which tops which. Sonically, this one is unmatched, the back half of Double Hockey Sticks, the Brickmile joint, Steel Wool, Flight Risk, Fake Flowers, First 48 all hit hard in the system. Brickmile is truly on a new level, never felt anything quite like that one before. One of the darkest albums I’ve heard, no holding back, and on Friday the 13th, no less.

Boldy has never rapped like this before, never been more versatile, bars on here will take a long time to unpack. This album sounds like Boldy’s first true Griselda album, and in my opinion, it tops most everything else in that catalogue. Everyone brought their shyt, haven’t heard a Curren$y verse so sharp, ever. Not a single ball dropped.

AOTY contender, no doubt.

And ironically, no Griselda by Fashion Rebels vocal tag anywhere. I thought we'd get it on 1 or 2 joints, especially Brickmile.

1) Benny probably the most overrated rapper ever.

2) Steel Wool :wow:
Yo Steel Wool is crazy. @subletteafterdark was saying it sounded like some M1CS / 360 Waves era Alc and I can definitely hear it. I don't know if it's an old beat or not, but it definitely has that flavor to it from when Al was on his last crazy run of projects in the early 2010's.

Speed Trap reminds me of something from the score in the first Terminator movie. :demonic:
