Religious conflict often leads to war. War leads to destabilisation. Destabilisation leads to less food security, education, housing availability and development, etc. As such Islam holds blame for destabilisation in this regard - but not just this one. Religious fanaticism the likes of which Islamists show is an albatross on general civil and societal progress as well. It's an albatross on black progress. Let me explain: the cacs were once religious fanatics too. Before the 14th and 15th century, mysticism and religious fever were most influential parts of European society. It was only when the Europeans began to embrace secularism did society began its march to modernism. The Renaissance brought an appreciation and practice of secular arts. Hitherto Christianity controlled and dictated every aspect of European life. Believing the Bible was the word of God and impeachable as such, near everything the Europeans did revolved around Christianity. Scientific inquiry, humanism, philosophy were all seen as heretical and a waste of time. The Renaissance pulled the Europeans away from the religiosity which held absolute dominion and led them to civilization. As a result the Europeans developed further the tomes of Humanism: grammar, philosophy, rhetoric and poetry. The Europeans began to read more than just the Bible and to explore more than what the Bible expressed. And the Europeans were better for it. Islam is an albatross on societal and civil society, just as fanatical Christianity once was.
