subsidiaries/product lines aren't the same as two completely different legal entities (companies). two boards, two different business models, two different industries, etc

gotcha.. so hypothetically Elon couldnt take all his shyt and house it under one name eventually?

he could create a holding company that houses all his different businesses, there are pros and cons to this as money-losing lines erode the value of profitable lines, etc. but jack kept twitter and square separate - which was smart IMO. only truly questionable move is square buying Tidal, I just don't see how this adds any value

Depends on the cost, growth, and profit. If they can run Tidal profitably why not? There's a lot of juggernauts in that field like Apple, Google, Amazon, and Spotify. I really wouldn't be looking to compete with such companies. Roku does it though so maybe it's possible.

roku isn't its own streaming service, it's hardware allowing you to stream whatever services you subscribe to. tidal has jack shyt to do with finance/banking/payments, it has an incredibly small user base in a market with notoriously low margins and/or negative profits

Roku hardware is for its streaming service. They either sell it at cost or a loss. They're all about collecting data and selling ads as a business.

Tidal just introduced a free ad supposed service. Again not something I'd chase after but we'll see if they can grow it.

roku HW is the same as firestick - you can d/l and use hulu, netflix, disney etc on it...making money from the ads they show is nowhere near the same as depending on its streaming service as the $ driver - most ppl using roku are connecting to services other than roku

wasn't the plan for Tidal to get into more exclusive album releases and NFTs?

think Jack was saying something like he doesn’t like seeing people get ripped off or exploited for money. Ties in with bitcoin and payments angle, but don’t think they’ve done too much with nft’s or anything yet. Hopefully Jack can focus more on square now and get shyt going. I messed up not selling square for more Tesla stock.

Crazy to think that I got a single $20 put on RH back in early August for 02/18/22 and the stock currently around $27. :russ:

I think it hit its highest mark that day. Don't expect to make much money off it but still funny to see how low its dropped.
