What Cathie saw in Tesla is how far ahead their tech was ahead of competition. She had hired someone from nvidia I believe and they were impressed by Tesla’s tech.

once Tesla started showing better numbers and profitability was ahead, stock started going up. When they got profitable, the big shorts got burned and had to cover. As it started running, more people jumped in. Stock split made it easier for people to get in again and then s&p inclusion had it run again. Now it’s meeting 500k target and moving from anticipated biden energy push.

will someone catch them? Who knows. But Tesla is staying innovative. The new battery tech stuff for example. Manufacturing efficiency. Cathie thinks they’ll win autonomous race, we’ll see. Getting their energy side of business going more would be a huge help.

Another add on about their tech is that TSLA also doesn’t seem above being a supplier, a lot of companies gonna come to them for tech (the high margin part of the business) and batteries, while handling the manufacturing (the low margin part of the business). TSLA is vertically integrated right now, gross margins are over 22% which is huge for a car maker, and even more impressive for TSLA who doesn’t have the scale of other automakers that hit the 20%+ range

The "Standard Range" Model Y takes up service as the model's base trim level and starts at $41,990 and carries an EPA-estimated range of 244 miles. That means the Model Y Standard Range is $8,000 less expensive than the all-wheel-drive Model Y Long Range model. if anyone is looking for an energy play that will benefit from the biden admin check out ENG. still dragging behind other hydrogen/energy companies but it's starting to pick up steam.

-they're the first of its industry to build a facility Yahoo is now a part of Verizon Media
-a competitor is FCEL and ENG have a higher revenue and YoY growth.
-management own a good chunk of the company so when institution starts to buy in you know it's gonna take off.
