Eric, serious and others have made great picks through this thread.

Reading tons and tons of pages of shyt from companies? Nah, I’m good on that. I’ve taken plenty of accounting classes but don’t even really need to use it much. There’s people putting in hours of research and giving you results in short videos.

You can keep it simple and buy Tesla. Check back in 5 years, you’ll be good. Mix in some square and amazon on next dip if you want to diversify a bit. Non-tech stocks, finding good ones are hard. By good I mean something that will double or triple.

Love watching football but as a cowboys fan, covid can wipe out this season so I can buy some draftkings cheap.

this is what i mean by this thread isn't as educational, got people thinking the only good stocks are those that 3-5x in a year, or that that's a realistic rate of growth for a stock or their portfolio YOY.

people in here just discovered SQ this year when that company has been a disruptor and leader in fintech since they dropped their reader and POS systems back in 2011/13. you've had since 2015 to be in that stock, but those who are anti-research often end up being the one's late or chasing, DD helps you pick winners early on.

i'm not shytting on this thread at all, but when a new investor comes in here asking where to start and the "live and die by other people's picks" crew pipes up, i gotta call time out because that's not how you learn to invest, build a successful investment strategy - which should be tailored to your needs, income levle, and goals, especially if/when a bear market returns.

I'm not throwing out random tickers, for example I started talking DKNG when it was 20 back months ago and posted my bull case then.

My picks aren't all winners but at least I post what my case is and go from there, what else can you ask for?

Why is everyone pissed off today? Lol

My random ticker comment wasn't about you - I think you're one of the more solid posters in here. It was a generalized statement about this thread. Lots of random tickers and very minimal DD to back it up.

I didn’t mean double or triple in a year. Personally looking at a 5 year time frame for that goal.

I’m assuming most in this thread are under 40 and can be a bit aggressive.

No Whammies!!
TVIX and long vol. positions during the crash :wow:

TLT Calls during the crash :wow::ohhh:

At one point during the crash days, my pile of TLT calls was the single most valuable thing that I have ever owned in my entire life.
It got me through the worst of the COVID bottom to have enough to start building up my QQQ, XLK, etc calls that don't expire until next June or later.

It is what it is though. We all come in here to share thoughts and new discovered companies but this thread isn't a rock solid financial institution to live and die by. Everybody should still do their DD and homework on their own. If somebody new comes in they simply should just go back 50+ pages and on the side investopedia their knowledge game up. Its a great thread but there's really no rules or standards in here imo

I been knew about the square card readers from back then when my then job started selling them. But I never really got into the stock like that. I had my 401k which became an ira and I would throw money in on a set basis bit didn't get too deep into investing like this year. Would have a few small positions here and there on my account but nothing like now and getting serious with investing. I was always big on saving, especially when the rates were high. So I'm sure there are others like me that had some knowledge but weren't too deep in the game. And yeah I know what you mean about thinking that 3-5x growth is normal for a portfolio cuz I've dealt with good and bad years in my 401k since I started investing in it back in like 06. Wish I would've done more individual investing instead of just thru my job at the time but it is what it is and my income level at the time wasn't too high back then. But still anything helps. I think most or all of us are young enough to be able to take risks and survive a bear market. Plenty of great advice in this thread but also good to hear opinions from different perspectives.
