My strategy is to invest for dividends. I only hold a single stock that doesn't pay dividends right now (Uber). If the market crashes it doesn't really matter to me because as long as companies like McDonald's, Apple, Intel, and Coca-Cola keep paying their dividends I'm achieving my goals. I plan to hold all these companies for more than likely the rest of my life so the capital appreciation can go up and down and since I don't plan to sell that's not a factor.

Hell the market crashing means I can but in at cheaper prices and raise my yield on cost.

What stocks do you own right now?
Apple
Disney
Intel
Exxon Mobile
Microsoft
McDonalds
Untied Technologies
Abbvie
Verizon
AT&T
Nike
Bank of America
Uber
Coca-Cola
Ford

I also own VOO the Vanguard S&P500 ETF and Uber. I don’t own a lot of VOO but I buy $100 of it every week minimum. I forgot I own like $100 of a share of Google. I toss whatever spare change I have left at it from my SoFi account so I don’t just have money sitting. They do partial shares of all the companies I own except UTX and MCD.

As you can see I own a lot of Dow stocks.

I completely agree. I no longer focus on the sayings of others because their opinions caused me to lose money. I primarily focus on dividend aristocrats and strong companies paying dividends. I also participate in Drip programs to reinvest the dividends. Like you my focus is beyond my lifetime, so I just keep consistently buying and growing. I also plan on teaching my seeds this philosophy so they can continue their wealth building. This is about creating an empire and that does not happen overnight. It happens brick by brick.

How do you get in to the Drip program? Is this something through your brokerage firm?

Not saying anything to anybody in here that is in the know, but to all others I say this, Automate the process. Whether it is automatic deductions from your check 401k, automatic deposits in your brokerage account, automated purchases of stocks, bitcoins or whatever, just automate. The less you have to think about it the better. Only thing I learned from getting older is time. Time. It just keeps flowing. While you worrying about right now time flows. While you looking back it flows. Automate so you don’t think about time, until the day you think about it and that steady trickle of change turned into an ocean of cash.
