richard was one of the only reasons i kept watchin the show after jimmy got killed off.. but im a keep watchin cause the finale was so good..it took me a whole yr to get over jimmy..and i wont be over richard death till probably season 6

It was heavily implied in the show. They never explicitly said it so fukk the actual history. They didn't really disregard it cause from what I gathered from all the history buffs in this thread is that no one knows what happened really so they couldn't say definitively. Which they never did. So it makes sense that people would draw conclusions and be confused. It's exactly what the show wanted.

Make it seem like they're out for each other > Never show them actually order anything to happen

The show is definitely trying confuse viewers what exactly happened, but they aren't going to go agains't history. We will see next season that it was O'banion's friends that tried to kill Capone and Torrio.

I think they were just trying to show Capone was a paranoid train wreck. Especially with Frank being killed & showing how he was into coke. They're just showing that Capone was a loose cannon.
