HL need to attract new posters by posting news articles and stay away from useless debates. I fully agree with what you are saying and although I believe I'm fairly unknown on this forum, I try to have an input on different conversations.

Also, please be hard on trolls. I still don't get why people are allowed to have different aliases when everyone knows who it is. :wtf: Never understood that shyt.

Because we allow all these other aliases on the board, there was never a basis to ban aliases on here in light of other precedents. Now I can go rally to get aliases banned, but if I do that, then that also probably means that the aliases of "non-trolls" have to go as well to make things fair. That on you guys if you want me to do that....

I always want to post more stuff but I feel like, in this forum, you're forces into a position by what you post. Which causes people to respond with their prejudice. I usually just want to learn and get opinions but I always feel like I'm fighting something I never said.

:ehh: Yeah, I'm down with that. I doubt I'll be there that long term. I can't imagine myself being anywhere long term right now. I'll go where the job takes me. Still want to work and live abroad at some point (almost did end up working in London). But it sounds legit to me. I just imagine that it'd be a bytch for when I go and party and club in NYC to get back to. I can imagine that taxi being crazy expensive or that subway ride taking forever. Being very white doesn't mean anything to me at this point, I've gotten accustomed to that since college.

Remembered after the fact but I met another group of lawyers who had moved to the Netherlands and they were either in the hague, rotterdamn, amsterdam or possibly antwerp, belgium. A lot of companies "offshore" there for tax reasons, if I remember correctly. The quality of life and pay are much better from what they've told me. A lot of people move to the continent, the weather in England is a serious downer. Flights are cheap but your time isn't if you know what I mean.

I rarely hit the clubs unless I'm meeting girls or functions. After living in the city awhile you'll find you only have the energy to hit local spots. I do make a habit of going out in the west village and alphabet city though. Cabs are like 50$ when I take them(find a couple good car services to store in your cell), I'm usually a cheapskate and take my car or ride the subway if I'm sloshed. The train can take an hour plus or 30 mins at least late night depending on only god knows what. It's a great time to live in nyc for real. The nice thing about new york is you don't have to subject yourself to that unless you want to. I love diversity.

Yeah I think this is one of the biggest reason posters don't come in here. There have been several times where people would lazily assume my position on things instead of straight up asking me what my stance was.

^that story is wild, man. the supposed video will never come out though.

Crack, murder, and politics: A timeline of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's scandal - The Week

since that article, he's lost a couple more people in his staff and his own campaign manager said he won't with him again until he goes to rehab.

this whole thing is the icing on the cake. this guy has been an endless source of fukkery for years, even as a councillor. racist remarks, being boozed up and groping bytches, got booked in florida for a dui and weed, domestic violence...the list goes on. i can't believe he's actually our mayor.

i need that rob ford smiley right about now...forgot who had it.

One of the most annoying things about posting here to me is that often people will project general their disdain for ideas or people on to you, and sort of use you as a metaphorical punching bag for things they don't like, and diss you for things you are not and words you never said.

I can't remember how many times I've been called stupid shyt like "Obama dikkrider" just because I credit him for things I think he did get right or partially right, and provide context for the situation i.e. Republican/blue dog obstruction, monied lobbying influence in Washington.

I've said I don't know how many times I think he's a centrist Republican, a sellout to the banking industry, and a huge disappointment and he's continued Bush's encroachments on civil liberties. You never see me disagree with people who say that.

BUT if somebody says stuff like "he didn't accomplish shyt in his 1st term," or "the stimulus didn't work" or downplay or deny the existence and impact of the Repubs making 60 votes to pass anything in the Senate in an unprecedented fashion, that's when I call bullshyt.

And there's been times where I've been called a "c00n" and other colorful names because I don't believe in Ivan Van Sertima's unsubstantiated, evidence-less hypothesis about the Olmecs beings black, called Francis Cress Welsing's "melanin theory" pseudoscientific bullshyt, and see no problem with Zoe Saldana choosing to eschew manmade racial categorization in terms of how she self-identifies. :dead:

And I know from talking to people that that thread the other day where people were blaming an 8 year old boy, "the gay agenda," and this generation being "soft" for him being gangraped by 3 older boys which thankfully got deleted had a few long time posters questioning whether they should even post here anymore. That was the rock bottom low point for this forum.

Whatever, this shyt will always be what it is. It's the nature of it. It will never be like TLR. Do we really want that? I read everyone's shyt. Everyone's, troll shyt, everything.. I focus in on certain topics, and that's what most people do.

it is what it is.
