Blue Ruin- Beautifully Shot Indy Revenge Film

Watched this last night and it was incredible. The sense of tension/dread is at 10 for pretty much the entire movie.

I'd compare it to No Country For Old Men, but with an even tighter focus and a MUCH better ending.

@Jax @hexagram23 can this thread get stickied? This film should not get overlooked in this forum and being an indie project, there wasn't much promo for it.

Really?? You guys thought there was tension? Where? Netflix booked this as a "thriller", it was not. It belongs strictly in the drama category.

That main guy was a good actor though.

This is a forum dedicated to film discussion and this was an excellent indie movie. All the major releases will be talked about no matter what. Lesser known releases like this need to get promoted a bit so more eyes can see it and we can get more discussion going on.

This shyt only got 2 pages while Transformers has dozens...if there is an excellent film out there, we need to propagandize it so people can get some quality film in their lives; I vote we sticky more limited release movies that are great based on consensus...The Drop is another one

im gonna peep mystic river and GBG during the week and then go peep the drop next weekend. haven't been to the movies since guardians i dont think

One of the women near the end of movie is played by Eve Plumb,who played Jan on The Brady Bunch

It's a alright movie,for what it is....A indie movie with a decent storyline and good acting

Pretty much. I saw this movie earlier this year at the IFFR and it's a solid revenge movie but nothing more. I saw To Kill A Man (Matar A Un Hombre) at the same festival and thought it was a far better example of a grounded revenge/vigilante movie. It's paced a lot slower and is incredibly minimalistic in execution, but that one actually was 'beautifully shot', with great cinematography and amazing use of lighting, and a good sense of suspense building.

Its another flick that the less you know going in, the better...but I will tell you this: Hardy plays against type in this role and its really compelling; The story is good, not great, but its the performances by Hardy and Gandolfini that make this movie. Very good film
