The fact that some of y’all saying this movie was good is why DC been flopping in the first place. This sh*t was trash just like the other DC movies. Same sentiment over and over. Black Adam wasn’t that bad. Flash wasn’t that bad. Blue Beetle wasn’t that bad. They were all equally garbage films. Some of y’all no disrespect need to step up your expectations because if you’re calling these films good when the collective can tell these films are trash which is why people aren’t going to see it in theaters I don’t know what to say. These movies are arguably terrible and the box office is translating that. If that’s not the case you wouldn’t see such catastrophic fall offs in the box office the week after release because good word of mouth would help these films. They don’t have true good word of mouth and the numbers are actually reflecting that b
Box office doesn't correlate with quality of a film. Some of the greatest films of all time were flops at the box office. Not that I'm saying this is one of those.

I also think we are perpetually online .The average person has no clue about rebooted universes and digital release dates. That's overblown to me.

People tryna attack Gunn in here lol. If Superman has a good trailer and then it's followed by good reviews, people are going to the theater to watch it.

Anything else is wishing thinking by MCU stans who are upset their universe fell apart after Endgame. shyts weird. Lol

Y'all should be thanking Gunn. He put out the only good Marvel movie in a minute.

The Batman came out before all these flops.

If the batman came out after flash, shazam, and blue beetle...who was going to see it. Who was going to see a movie studio release 3 straight flops and then say but I am going to go see the 4th movie?

If aquaman don't hit...Gunns whole press run is going to be trying to convince people his dc movie is nothing like that shyt that released in 2023 that bricked everywhere. Not what you want to do when you trying to get a whole comic book universe off the ground with your first movie.

People are actually "dumb enough". Shazam flopped. The flash is nothing like shazam. Flop. Blue beetle is nothing like The flash. Flop. Rock tried to avoid having black adam have anything to do with Shazam. Flopped.
Idk batman usually an easy sell. That’s kinda the issue right now. No other characters can really break out because of bats and possibly superman

Man this thread got weird as fukk :mjlol:

And I don’t mind it

Im NEVER the one that complains when shyt goes off the rails. But it’s funny when you see that hypocrisy and folks be like

I’ll maybe check this out when it comes on tv….. no real rush for me. I don’t mind obscure comic characters

But they really didn’t do a great job promoting it to someone like me to want to go see it and I wasn’t too crazy about this character in the cartoons

I think it's just the fact that the comic book movie bubble has burst. In 2019, comic movies was on top. They had been running the game for years before that but 2017-2019 was when they were at their zenith. Folks was coming out to watch comic book movies who had never gone before. My parents (my PARENTS!) were going to the movies to see Avengers.

But after covid when they started releasing mid material (marvel AND dc both), they lost every last bit of goodwill that they established.

They couldn't see this because they thought they were too big to fail. They still haven't course corrected because they are so ignorant that they're blaming "the universe" or the actors for their movies failing, instead of the fact that they can't seem to tell a coherent story anymore.

I wanted The Flash to fail because of Ezra but I can be objective and admit that the actor had nothing to do with the failure at the box office. Most people didn't even know about his crimes.

It failed because the dominos are falling. Even if they release a good story, it's not going to draw the same crowd it was drawing before because they've had so many bombs in between the good stories.

And both companies affect each other. DC movies were doing well because marvel movies were doing well. And coincidentally DC movies are tanking because marvel movies are tanking. They are literally affecting each others fan base because as hardcore as the stan wars are, most of us are watching every comic book movie.

Superfans of marvel are watching DC movies and vice versa.

Both companies are suffering from bad storytelling and they've simply lost us.

Folks are sick of it. I'm somebody that was always day 1 or day 2 to see a comic book movie or show and I've even tuned it out. Because they simply aren't good anymore.

It took me 2 weeks to watch the season finale of Secret Wars (or whatever the hell that stuff was called). I just wasn't interested anymore.

I'm a hardcore fanatic and they've lost me. Imagine folks who didn't grow up reading comics. They lost them a long time ago.

I'm with everything you said but let's be honest... Even most of the Marvel movies was trash

Ironman 1 was good... 2-3 trash
Thor 1 good.. Two trash, 3 avg at best, 4 trash
Cap was all great
Bp 1 for 2
Captain Marvel trash
Antman 1 ok, 2-3 trash
Strange 1 good, 2 avg at best
shang whatever, trash
eternals, super trash

I mean really, even with avengers, they shooting like 50% in fact, I think them putting out avengers is the only reason it lasted this long for real. Take the MCU and remove the avengers and you got the Cap series as the only one that never put out a shytty movie. You'd probably have a few half decade stretches of bad movies

We got some of the usual suspects in here doing cirque du soleil quality acrobatics in here to defend this and drag MCU into this :mjlol:

Men lie, women lie,

The numbers for black Adam followed by Shazam 2 followed by the flash followed by blue beetle don’t :wow:
