Meh. Like I said, unless KD or Kyrie get hurt, or Ainge uses the TPE to make some miracle trade at the deadline, our best case scenario is losing in the ECF again.

I ain't gonna lie brehs, I've been singing a different tune for the past few weeks, but if we have the chance at Harden, I can't blame Ainge for going for it. I love JB and all, but in all likelihood he will never come close to being as good as Harden is. This could be a rerun of when folks didn't want to trade Al Jefferson for KG

I see Harden had 44 and 17 tonight. That's normal for him in the regular season. Tight playoff games is where he's shaky.

Yeah, and that's a valid criticism. But idk man, folks also said similar things about KG before he got to Boston.

We also have to question if this is our best option. We're gonna need a legit superstar talent to contend for titles. AD rejected us, KD rejected us, Ainge passed on trading for Kawhi, we never had a chance at LeBron, Giannis isn't leaving Milwaukee any time soon.

I'm just saying that I can't blame Ainge if he takes that risk.

KG also signed an extension the moment he got here. Would Harden stay here long term or would he pull the same act on us as soon as things don't go his way?

True. But IIRC KG was on an expiring deal while Harden has a few years left on his contract before free agency. I also don't think Ainge would trade key pieces if he felt it was a rental, i.e. Kawhi or AD.

I don't think Celtics would have to sell themselves that short

Danny can easily just tell Houston that he's keeping Jayson and Jaylen, and to trade away anyone else and any draft pick they want
Celtics have enough assets and young players to get the deal done

Any combination of Kemba, Smart, Theis, Langford, etc etc and Picks would be enough IMO

Thing about it is, we don’t have anymore picks besides our own, which aren’t that valuable.

And we would have to flip Kemba to a 3rd team and redirect their assets to Houston, but Kemba’s value has diminished because of age, injuries & a lackluster playoff run.

I would still go ahead and try it, maybe with a 3rd team. I get that Harden >>> Jaylen. But I'm not that convinced Harden makes the Celtics "better". His leadership qualities are just not on the level where its a sure fire trade to make it work. He seems like the type to pad his stats, dodge the media, and go home. And he's never come up in the big moments. This could be a Kyrie thing all over again. Talented player who dodges weight of being a leader... I wouldn't trade that type of player for Jaylen

Even Kevin Durant's emotional burner account self is more of a leader than Harden

Used up all our draft capital to have a roster filled with mediocre talent with no value

it’s not to say timelord grant Romeo nesmith Pritchard and maybe even waters could be good but their value isn’t there yet
