Bleed for This got me thinking, why so many boxing movies with white protagonists?

It's like they need Hollywood to explicitly spell it out for them like how The Chinese Government do with The Chinese film Industry.
nikka my post was just a rhetorical question :childplease:

of course I already KNOW why, I just wanted to hear everybody else's thoughts on the matter :ld:

why do many boxing movies, period? i mean, christ, it's a genre in itself. every guy who ever had even a modicum of success probably has his life story optioned.

There have been like 5 good basketball movies, ever, yet 3 boxing movies come out every year. Also, Warrior ws the best fighting movie of the decade and i can't stand mma. don't argue with me.
Most boxing films are biopics or based on an event or person..plus it happens to bw that boxer's from the past and current have a story to tell..some sad, bad or controversial.

understood, but most people in the public eye have a story to tell. ... let's just pick one at random. The Fighter. That was a solid movie, not shytting on it, probably 1 of 2 David O Russell movies I didn't hate... but did we NEED to see the story of Mickey Ward and his drug addict brother? Mickey Ward was known for what? 3 marathon fights with Arturo Gatti? (he's dead, i bet his biopic is coming soon.) I feel like Hollywood just wants the fighter, then finds the story after it. Something about being able to toss in a fight scene every 20 minutes fits some kind of lazy formula they love to use.

I understand your point clearly.. it gets tiresome.

to be fair, boxing movies and Mayweather/Pac are basically the only things keeping boxing afloat. who the hell talks about boxing in any other context?
