I lived in Portland as a kid but have lived in the LA area since I was a teenager. My friends and The Coli are the only places I ever talk about sports, listening to podcasts or reading comments has always seemed lame to me cause it's just other fans bytching or repeating the obvious. I only even read articles if its about games I didn't watch or has someone with a perspective deeper than mine.

I was always under the impression that regular Portland fans loved CJ and he connected with the community well, but if they want him out too then it's definitely all on management.

Wait what? I thought they loved CJ. (Also CJ strikes me as one of the guys who will either be on TV or the sidelines after he retires) I definitely didn’t know that wow.

I don’t think most fans operate like this. It’s only fans that are super invested in transactions and such” nba twitter”

OKC is 28th in attendance,

They were 14th when they had CP3 and made the playoffs

Portland has been 13th this year and 5th in that same time frame

The idea that fans want teams to be as bad on purpose in order to have hope that they may be good in the future is not something everyone subscribe too

My argument isn’t that fans would rather their team be bad than good. Like I said I think that’s oversimplifying it. I just think people are gonna be more excited about a team that’s currently bad with an exciting future than a team that’s more competitive but you know they ain’t shyt and never gonna be shyt with who they have. I think people become bored with stagnation.

Put it like this: I think Grizzlies fans are more excited about the team they have now than there were in the last years of the Conley/Gasol/Z-Bo/Allen era when they were still making the playoffs but you knew they had peaked. Both teams are more or less on the same level but one team’s future is looking up and the other was looking down.

The Grizzlies are a bad example. The internet was saying they should blow it for years before they did

What you think is happening with the Blazers :skip:

They also got lucky in that the Ja pick jumped from 8th to 2nd or else they'd more than likely still be in the draft lottery now.

True but luck is a part of the game. Everyone except the Kings benefits from it :manny:

Outside of Dame and CJ, they don't really have any other assets that teams would covet. They're limited in the major moves that they can do to improve the team.

They're the definition of a treadmill team right now even if people won't admit it, which is why don't really have a choice but to trade Dame when it's all said and done and do a reset.

If they don't then they'll watch their only assets depreciate and get less or nothing of real value for them as they slide into obscurity
