That isn't special. Many of us do the same thing. My son goes to an Afrocentric school in BK that I pay out of pocket for. He's also a part of several black orgs I've put him in and worked last Xmas with me at a homeless shelter in Newark. Living everyday and raising your kids isn't teaching them to give back and invest in the community.
