Just going back and looking over some game games, that sengun and Bari front court was detrimental. I’ve come to the realization Jabari, intentionally but prolly unintentionally, has that Julius Randle affect on the offense and Jalen. . What Ant going through to offense this year with no lanes to drive, more traps and double team consequently because Randle doesn’t space the floor like KAT and being forced to shoot more 3’s and dance more on the perimeter is what Jalen goes through with Jabari starting. And then Jabari gets defensive rebounds and has the nerve to try struggle push it I transition instead passing the ball to a wing was swine frustrating shyt to watch. I remember him pushing the pace with the ball in his possesion and the refs was in front of him backpedaling. Like come on bro, you ain’t putting o pressure on nobody but yourself doing this
No matter how good a team plays team ball you need an scorer to go batshyt crazy in order to get a ring. Someone who gets the ball and knows why they’re touching it: get a basket. They’ve built the chemistry and way to play team ball through Sengun/Thompson/etc. while supporting Jalen’s scoring ability. It’s now a high-floor, high-ceiling team. Deep bench as well.
Jalen isn’t expected to carry the load, the rest of the team does, but Jalen brings them to the next level. Thompson and Sengun are floor raiders like a Jokic, Jalen is an elite ceiling raiser like a Jamal Murray or arguably Kawhi. You can 100% win a championship playing like this. If anything they kind of remind me of the Raptors team that won it all.
It’s no different from video game team structures honestly: Jalen is the pure damage hard carry, Sengun the support/utility keeping the team alive, Thompson the extra damage/utility, Brooks/Eason are the tanks doing the dirty work frustrating the other team.

The shooting will definitely cool off to an extent but I think his floor should be raised if they are just adamant on keeping his touches high even when the shot isn’t scorched earth mode. Last thing they should do is start going back to FVV pounding the rock if Jalen hits a cold stretch. Gotta keep him engaged and start teaching him how to actually facilitate. No more training wheels
Every poster complaining about FVV pounding the ball was right @CantStop@Flight@DoubleClutch@who_better_than_me . Jalen’s uptick is in direct correlation with FVV sitting his ass down. And this is not a “Jalen got better so FVV fell back”. It was a clear coaching directive to get Jalen the ball more vs FVV and its lead to Jalen going crazy
All Fred can do is spam pick and roll with Sengun and throw up garbage ass 3s. Cade is always assertive. He knows he’s the man. He knows if he’s not on, his team will fail. True alpha mentality. Sengun got that in him to. That’s why, even if he starts off 1-10, he can finish 10-20z
Jalen lets himself get punked and will fade In a game. That’s why when people say he’s a ball hog I know they don’t watch the rockets play. Jalen will take some bad shots at times and puts up low assist numbers but he’s the opposite of a ballhog. He will stand in the corner for large stretches of a game then get like 2-3 mins of shots that determine whether the good or bad Jalen has shown up. The mental growth he needs to take to really break out is to think “if I get 26-30 points, my team will win”. He’s gotta learn how to press and how to push that button even when he’s off. But on this type of team, where on any given night someone might pop off, it’s best to play how he has been playing (inefficiency aside). But the playoffs are a completely different beast.
Agreed. Overall Jalen is too passive. From an overall “give me the ball” perspective. He’ll get his shots up but it’s usually choppy cause Fred is usually pounding the rock. Cam Whitmore is selfish and I love it. Gotta tone it down but I’d rather have to tell a scorer chill vs go shoot.
Jalen and Lou play nothin alike. If Jalen had some of Lou’s skillset he’d be the closer for this team.
Jalen and Holiday had the game under control last night and was constantly putting pressure on the Wolves defense . Jalen hit the big 3 with just under 4 minutes to put Houston up 14 pts, and then FVV subbed back in and the rest of player on the floor became spectator to the FVv show with Sengun.
Jalen is ok. He just becomes a wallpaper when FVV runs the game. The Hosuton beat writer wrote that at the 4 min mark Jalen had a team high of 18 +/- and that was before FVV subbed back in. When the game ended he was the j my starter with positive +/-. Ime should’ve jsut let him closer rh game out with Holiday.
Stone is going t hae to save Ime from FVv. He depends on him to much. He keeps saying he wants the team to utilize FVv more off ball but that’s jsut not possible.l because FVv doesn’t want to play off ball. He doesn’t run to corner. He can’t do the same things off ball that Jalen, Amen, and Cam do
no guard with potential is going to succeed with that woat PG FVV
fatass takes 8 seconds to just cross the halfcourt line. takes another 6 seconds pounding the ball and then spends the next 10 seconds trying to jack up a 3 or throwing a grenade
Jackson’s hating ass keeps tip toeing around walking this back. This is the difference between watching and understanding the game vs just looking at box scores. Crazy the narrative was Jalen was a ball hog chucker when the issue was quite literally he wasn’t touching the ball enough.

I agree. The hierarchy of the team has shifted. FVV ws so overbearing on the offense this year that this dude was even taking the technical free throw with Jalen and Dillion shooting near 90% from line and FV was shooting in the 70%

What’s crazy is Jalen was shooting all the techs at first. Then Fred started taking them. I assumed Fred was shooting a higher clip at the stripe and they were like letting whoever was shooting the highest at the time take the shot. BRO I HAD NO CLUE FRED IS SHOOTING LIKE 7% LOWER THAN JALEN AT THE STRIPE UNTIL JUST NOW. WHY THE HELL WAS HE STEPPING TO THE LINE SO CONFIDENTLY!?
