To be honest, I think the original Twitter post is actually true in a literal sense.

I think X-Men could have been made without blade, but I think The Avengers probably wouldn't have been made without X-Men.

I think Blade maybe influenced other types of rated R action movies (Matrix, Equilibrium, John Wick) more than it did for the MCU.

No blade is influencanal by giving marvel the courage to make there own movies instead of licensing them out to other movie studios.

Without blade you don't have hulk and iron man.

they didn't have a choice
studios only wanted the most popular marvel characters
no one wanted iron man, captain America, and Thor at the time

I also think "Blade: The Series" was a better show than True Blood, but I can't call it super influential because not too many people even remember that it existed.

I'm one of those people who has no idea what you're talking about. :francis:

Detroit You bytch Ass nikka
There's a reason Blade is synonymous with Wesley. F*** it, just change the character's name to Wesley Snipes. HE jettsetted Marvel's whole s***. Blade one and two are piff movies period.
Blade 2, Aliens, Terminator 2 are the best action sequels EVER. You can't name a single 2nd movie in the action genre that's fukking with these 3 :yeshrug:

My mother absolutely loved Blade when it came out and couldn't stop talking about it back in the day. Till this day when it comes on she watches it all the way through. People try to wipe Wesley off the map for what he accomplished and give all the accolades to the white actors later on and just like network TV back in the day, they use black people to save their industry (Fresh Prince, Cosby Show, Martin, Living Single basically the rise of black sitcoms) and when the train is back on the track and business is booming they try to write us out of existence like we didn't do anything or short change us. They were doing it with Blade Trinity and was trying to use him to jump off Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel career. That's why he made everybody uncomfortable on set and was acting the way he acted (him and Goyer almost fough on set and Goyer hired Bikers to "protect himself"). All those muthafukkas knew Wesley was getting written out of the series and Goyer's script was shyt. fukk that and Patton Oswalt's little fat retarded ass trying to talk shyt after filming like a ho when he was barely in the movie himself. They don't tell you he sued Goyer after filming for (mistreatment on set, racist remarks, and failure to pay) $5 million and they settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.

Exactly at the time, no one except the die-hard comic book fans knew who Blade was. It was Snipes's popularity that got people interested to see the first movie. Let's not forget he was one of the producers for the movie, brought in his fight/stunt team, helped designed Blade's look and weapons. The sunglasses that Blade wore in the first movie are Black Flys; those were sunglasses that Snipes wore before he got the role. Snipes's contributions tend to get overlooked for the franchise due to how his career has turned out after.

Blade literally saved Marvel from going bankrupt by being a success

none of that shyt would've happened if Blade didn't save the company

Marvel did go bankrupt in 1996
Blade was the first movie after they came out of bankruptcy in 1998

I know that's why they sold all of their licensing to the movies to stay in business

they only made 25k off blade, and the rest went to the studios, but it proved Marvel IPs were profitable even the C list characters nobody heard of, most people didn't know blade was a comic book character, and it was the first marvel movie to be set in a grounded reality in the contemporary world
establishing the blueprint for every marvel movie going forward

so those studios green lit spider-man, x-men, etc and those movies allowed marvel to stay in business and recover, if blade had failed, there would be no way for them to make any income of the licenses they sold because studios wouldn't want to make the movies, and they would go bankrupt again and would've went out of business for good

Wesley Snipes created that version of blade

he even designed his weapons, he made the character good, he is the sole reason the movie was good and was a success
