Marvel did go bankrupt in 1996
Blade was the first movie after they came out of bankruptcy in 1998
I know that's why they sold all of their licensing to the movies to stay in business
they only made 25k off blade, and the rest went to the studios, but it proved Marvel IPs were profitable even the C list characters nobody heard of, most people didn't know blade was a comic book character, and it was the first marvel movie to be set in a grounded reality in the contemporary world
establishing the blueprint for every marvel movie going forward
so those studios green lit spider-man, x-men, etc and those movies allowed marvel to stay in business and recover, if blade had failed, there would be no way for them to make any income of the licenses they sold because studios wouldn't want to make the movies, and they would go bankrupt again and would've went out of business for good
Wesley Snipes created that version of blade
he even designed his weapons, he made the character good, he is the sole reason the movie was good and was a success
