These types of debates are so weird to me. Who goes around saying "I want a man who makes xyz?" I never heard a chick who really gets those types of dudes make that statement. You just look good and be in tbe right place at the right time and they come to you. If you need to declare that you need this or that you probably don't/can't get it.

It's women that aren't putting the work to get those guys, or aren't willing to sacrifice what they want in terms of looks/swag/style.

I've known a few women that have talked that I want a provider type rhetoric, but dealt with dudes with average ass incomes. What they wanted is the type of dudes they dealt with to have a six figure salary. The men with six figure salaries that they had access to, they wasn't really trying to get at.
