I'm both. I was born and raised in the US. I can trace my mom's side back to slavery in Camilla, GA. My father was born in Trinidad but raised in NYC.That's what she is though
Let me rephrase it. If your African ancestors were enslaved in the United States. You originally said the south east US tho theres AAs that lived in the gulf area, Maryland/Delaware area etc

Nah, breh. I'm not from the South, im not from the Midwest, im not from the West Coast. No one in my immediate family has been to jail. I didn't grow up in the burbs. My father is a retired vet but I'm didn't have the Army brat experience. I'm not a sneaker head. My brother likes rock. My ex likes trance. We all have different experiences but what ties us together is our history and culture.
Po is trying to tell me that I'm not AA even tho I was born and raised here and never left the country because I have people born in different countries in my family.
Some AAs are creole, some are Gullah, some have native roots, some are militants, some are Muslim, some are Christians. Some are Atheist. We are not a fukking monolith. Black people are diverse and dynamic.
What makes that c00nish? The point of that post is that AAs have varied experiences.
