Personally, it’s because the black women I know who were given a #softlife by “HVM” brehs are the women with the straight hair/straight weave/wig. And this goes for my ADOS girls and my Naija sistren.


Are there more enlightened brehs as you get older? Of course. But most girls in their “prime years” who are out and about can tell you the extreme difference in attention you experience if you go out one day with a TWA (girls y’all know), and then put individuals in a week later, and then pull those out and install a straight weave 6 weeks after that.


It’s the same as the difference y’all experience when you go from walking into a room with locs, shaving them off and walking into the same establishment with a fade 3 days later. People of all races (including black) will treat you differently.
