When you are a public figure, you cant get caught up responding to comments about yourself, you will go nuts.

That said, i dont think how she responded to the hair comment was overkill, she took that moment to educate dude. It wasnt rude or sarcastic. Her hair isnt 'short' for a curly head to me either.

:smh: hope she sues the shyt outta them.
to be real tho she's better off not responding to any post at all

This. Let them posters talk all they want, but until you start hearing the type of shyt said in the posts from your bosses, just keep it moving. I don't think her response was necessary nor do I think it was enough to fire her.

I hope she sues, It's hard out here for natural haired sistas :wow:

Well she has a history of suing, when it comes to racial issues in the workplace. I guess that's why they quickly gave her the AXE. :manny:

Austin’s NBC affiliate has been hit with a pair of lawsuits.

One accuses KXAN of racial discrimination; the other alleges the station aired a libelous report.

Eric Lassberg, president and general manager of KXAN, did not respond to a request for comment on the two cases.

Michael Fabac, who spent about five years as news director is, as of this week, no longer with the station, newsroom staffers said.

Former weekend morning weathercaster Rhonda Lee filed the discrimination suit in U.S. District Court in Austin.

Now at KTBS in Shreveport, La., Lee, who is black, says she was “terminated” in August after being “repeatedly subjected to crude and insensitive remarks about her race.”

She also claims, according to court documents, to have been left out of advertisements and station events, such as KXAN’s fall premiere party.

When Lee asked why, she was told “she was not marketable to the audience the company was trying to reach, which was Caucasian males,” the lawsuit alleges.

The weathercaster, who was employed by KXAN for just more than a year, says she was denied “employment opportunities,” as well. When Lee voiced her concerns, they were “dismissed without serious consideration,” the filing claims.

Her termination “constituted retaliation for Plaintiff’s failure to keep quiet about the discrimination against her by KXAN-TV personnel,” according to the suit.

Court records indicate Lee is seeking “appropriate back pay and reimbursement for lost pension, insurance, and all other benefits,” as well as punitive damages, fees for her attorneys and expert witnesses, and court costs.

:ahh: at her doing what is right. Sticking up for her natural hair, like music to my ears.

She should have never responded to such stupid and repugnant comments from ignorant fools. They are beneath her.

This is an employment discrimination lawsuit and I wish her all the best on her settlement. :myman:

Imus calls a bunch of women's basketball players 'nappy headed hoes' on the air, gets fired, then finds another job. This lady responds in a respectable manner to an awkward and insulting e-mail and gets terminated.

Her hair is kinda short. I think she played the race card too early, could of said something like "I like this hair style" rather than saying anything about her being black.

:what: ....how is this playing the race card on her end??? Goddamn, thats your guys' go to answer for everything race related involving black people.

The comment made mention of her race and her having short hair. She went into a tirade about conforming to European standards of beauty and being proud of her African American heritage. All that wasn't necessary to me. You can still be black and proud without making mention of it when the situation doesn't warrant it.

It certainly wasn't worth losing her job over though and I wish her good luck with her lawsuit.
