I mean, the chick still lives at home with her parents. She's the pretty girl next door type who would make the sweet, loving girlfriend....not the chick who's the life of the party who you think would make you bust several.

Unfortunately, the music game is very tough on black female artists who are not overtly sexual and whorish. Exceptionally talented black female singers like Melanie Fiona are beautiful yet have never been superstars because they are not sex pots. They actually sing and don't exude the "f#ck me now" vibe. They actually present themselves as nice, girl next door types. But music companies have a hard time marketing that when it comes in a black package. For the masses and the white execs, it's hard to imagine an attractive black woman who is not a whore.

Kelly Rowland is a great example. She's had a solo career for some time, but she didn't get that push until she changed her image and started making raunchy songs like Motivation and Kisses Down Low. When she was the pretty, girl next door type, her music didn't get the same airplay.

Tinashe needs to either leak some stories about her "having a fling" with some street rappers, revamp her entire look and go straight bad girl with her image. Or she needs to drop the current lame attempt at bad girl imagery in videos/interviews, be more authentic with her image and play up the girl next door vibe with her core audience.

Well all it took for Rihanna was a haircut. She was trying to be Beyoncé but it fell flat. She got a more edgy look and became the anti pop singer. Its also helped that she has supermodel looks in a way that other singers don't have. Tall, attractive and looks great in everything and she dresses her ass off. Everyone waits to see what Rihanna is wearing. She is more a style icon than a singer.

1. She's never hid from her African heritage. Her name itself is African name. She coulda changed it.
2. She's done all her music with other Black artists.
3. She looks like a Black girl
