You CAN have a firearm in NJ/NY.

You get a firearms ID and buy a shotgun or rifle for the home. It gets difficult when you get into pistols.

Those stats are true but there is some context too.

White people have lower homicide but higher suicide rates than we do. So the high number of gun suicides is skewed towards the White majority. Mental health issues in the Black community aside, the risk of a Black owner using his own gun to kill himself is much less since we have a much lower suicide rate. It could still happen of course.

Taurus makes good guns. Make sure you fire about 50-100 rounds every couple of months to get a good feel for the gun.
