Not sure why we should. I never look at other black people, if we do happen to make eye contact, I don't say what's up, I don't smile. I don't know them, don't want to know them.

That's just simply from a stranger point of view. I never got the nodding of shuffling and saying, "Sup bray, yada yada yada...the struggle! :gladbron:"

No, if anyone did that they are a dikkhead. In certain contexts if I don't know you I'm not looking or speaking to you.

^ That you?

Just don't see the point in acknowledging strangers, that's all.

It's equally worse when an older black person starts talking to you about things like you should be interested, grateful, like I should be genuflecting:

"If it wasnt for what happened in Alabama you wouldn't have this job here young man "

"Well thanks...and cool story bro :beli:"

Maybe it's just me, I get weirded out when strangers try to talk to me. They're a bit too over-familiar

I used to be like this. But i wound up going to a small high school in the ghetto with kids coming from Newark, Elizabeth, Trenton, Irvington, and other cities. I know my mom sent me to that school to mainly keep me safe from public schools, but boy was that school ghetto. But honestly, it was the best thing for me cause I learned my place. I think these kids need more exposure to kids from these environments that doesn't involve just drugs and violence.

I was the same way. My parents were from the Bay Area (Mom Berkeley and dad West Oakland) and they worked hard so I didn't have to live in the ghetto. But being mostly the token growing up, its easy to lose touch with what's really going on. When I got into the 7th grade, I was in a culture shock just seeing more people of my race. It was a a little rough at first cause I came off as proper to them and the cacs then wondered why I didn't act like them :comeon: But we were all cool once they knew I wasn't trying to act like someone I'm not to impress them.

I would rather live among racists who are too shook to do anything to me over living in a hood where the black community is deteriorating and simply looking at someone a certain way or saying something wrong will get you fukked up with the quickness.

I ain't about that life fam, and no one else should be

:manny:

Nah man, if you live in a racist ass town, you can't sleep.

Just ask Trayvon Martin, James Byrd, and the tons of Black dudes who just come up dead or in jail in some podunk ass town.

The police harass you and act like you're not supposed to be in your neighborhood.

When I visited one of my homies in college in one of these towns, he made it very clear that we had to be out of that motherfukker by sundown or the state troopers would have a field day.

The hood>>>>>>>that

Unless you live in the worst ghetto, where you're in imminent danger, I'd rather live there than end up in a Texas cell somewhere over some bullshyt.
