it won’t help trump at all. robinson off the ticket will just depress the vote for republicans, because trump supporters were already going to show up for him, and many of those who would have also supported robinson are going to stay home.

and, as polls show, those strictly supporting trump aren’t enough for him to win the state.

As an NC resident, I think this is overstated. Virtually all the recent polls calls NC a dead heap between Harris and Trump. The presidential ticket has a much more significant impact on the other down ballot races than the reverse. Robinson got a lot of media attention because he was so ridiculous but he was never close to leading any polls even before the scandal broke. NC has had 1 republican governor in the last 30 years and Robinson was never going to be the second.
