I just got it on PS5.

It appears i'm still very much noob-level, the game is pretty hard.

I'm struggling with that big headed blue idiot and the douche with the flaming sword. Which one is easier to take out?

flaming sword mad easy. The best advice I can give you is ignore leveling the general stats and push down the basic stance skills as far as possible for more charges and revealing strike. Basically, when you see a boss wind up, you have to dodge. With revealing strike, you can use a charge to do a heavy attack, followed up by a super heavy or a continued light. Either way, you completely negate the incoming damage and most likely stagger the enemy. Very effective vs the bigger, slower enemies that like doing a billion damage in one hit. Especially mister Wight.

Some strategic tips to get good.

  • Aggression is everything. Attack nonstop until your stamina is depleted, then get some distance to recover.
  • Don't use every ability. Choose which one works best for the fight so you dont run out of mana.
  • Never do two full combos. Best to do 1, followed by a heavy or just back off.
  • Dodging forward is your friend. The enemy tends to track your movement so dodging back or even sideways can end up "dragging" the attack to you. Most bosses cannot 180 on their attack. (second tip.) Never attack massive enemies from behind. They always have some devastating back attack. Best to focus on their sides. Small enemies are extremely vulnerable to back shots.)

Smash stance is trash. You make the game harder for yourself trying to play around it since you can't animation cancel with heavies. I'd just get the sprinting charge only

Going down the stamina tree early is better.

If you get the skill in the stamina tree that lets you dodge without resetting your combo you can cycle through your strings while they're stunned and when they recover and attack, dodge and light finisher. When you max out focused breath you can pretty much loop this using a spirit that staggers, immobilize, and 3 point heavies later to give you some time to regen stamina quickly
