maybe I missed it, but what does this have to do with Islam the RELIGION? Because the people doing the enslaving were Muslims (which I don't think was ever mentioned, just that those who were enslaved were Muslims), it somehow reflects poorly on the religion that they "follow"?

Not a great argument, breh. You're right, Christians were horrible, too, but we shouldn't try and justify maltreatment by saying others did it, too.

The problem with religion is that it rarely helps truly eradicate racism unless it is taken up and transformed fundamentally by a group of people, as with Black Theology, Black Islam, etc. But in its original form, it rarely does, and is often predisposed towards the group of people with which it originates. On the occasion that it does eradicate some prejudice, it's usually contingent on the would-be victims of prejudice joining the religion before getting treated better.

Not trying to change the subject and you make very good points as far as religion and racism , don't disagree with anything you said.

I brought up blacks and Christianity because the OP threw out blacks and Islam as if to say that's the only religion that is bringing oppression to blacks. OP obviously has a hidden agenda which is to slander Islam , my point is if your going to start slandering religion especially on the basis of black slavery lets keep consistent all across all board let's talk about the religion and the race that originated and perfected the modern and most brutal slave trade ,christian whites. That's what should be plaguing his mind , the fact that a larger number of his people are praying to a long haired, blue eyed white man that directly resembles someone who did this to them:

Not saying it did not happen ,because it did, but for all the talk about the arab slave trade and how much worse than the transatlantic slave it was you figure it would have been better documented ? All the evidence i have seen for it has been the one or two books we have all seen linked here, the one documentary we have seen linked here and the one pic of the Arab ship we have seen linked here. Nobody finds that weird?

Speaking of documentation and am close with this , the "modern Arab/Muslim" that the OP speaks about how come we have no seen any proof of this in Iraq/Afghanistan or any of the many Muslim counties where the United States has army bases and spies on every corner? Surely if ANY place would be a perfect candidate for the brutality that is slavery it would have been the regimes of Saddam Hussein or the Taliban. More so Saddam who had the finical means to do so? How come when we were winning hearts and minds in Iraq we didn't find hundred of slaves chained up somewhere or like i said before how come the only proof of modern black slavery comes in form of these documentaries which are actually covering INDENTURED SERVANTS more than anything else, which is still wrong in itself and can be a WHOLE OTHER DISCUSSION ** waves at CEO'S OF APPLE AND WALMART **


So yea my point is if we going to start pointing finger lets do it in the right direction and lets point fingers at everybody not at who we feel is convenient to.
