People are free to believe whatever they want, I don't knock people for whatever spiritual path works best for them. The problem with a lot--not all--of black Muslims is that they shyt on Christianity for its use as a tool of oppression, and play the black nationalist/black authenticity defining role, meanwhile they

and FYI... There really isn't anything such as Christianity... Real Judaism hardly still exist... so there really is just Islam out there as an option. or Buddhism or athiesm. Hinduism doesn't really make sense to me- but I guess that's an option too.

I think that the bigger issue is a lack of understanding of how Black Muslims operate in America, if you met some they would be far from apologists for what transpired prior. The thing is I don't think any religion per se is detrimental to the Black community as a whole and I think that way of thinking is played in fact the church/mosque are not only places of worship but act as conduits for community organization. As part of my work I work closely with Muslims and Christians and there are soldiers on the front lines and there are enemies hiding in plain sight. Is Islam a perfect religion, no far from it, but then again religion as a construct is imperfect as is the lack thereof. I think we put too much stock in what people believe in when it comes to issues regarding the Black community. The bigger thing is how these churches, mosques, or organizations work together. I will say this there are some Muslims who use their beliefs to their owns ends and refusing to work in interfaith efforts but they are fewer and farther between than people think.
