I saw a video somewhere where Buck was saying Chris Lighty wanted to bring just him over the Def Jam, and that Chris always called him "the one that got away"

I remember there was talk Buck was supposed to have a solo called "The Night" or some shyt

I remember the very day 'how many emcees' came out. I was 14 years old at the time and just remember that beat going so hard. The video was raw hip hop. No gimmicks, just some regular dudes in the projects displaying all the facets of hip hop....what with Evil Dee spinning the record upside down and shyt. My cousin from Brooklyn is briefly in the video. I met all them dudes when 'who got da props' came out. I can't believe it's been so long.

I always thought that at least Buckshot would have become bigger than what he was.

^^^^good post. yeah, the keyboard phase of BCC killed them in the public eye. that war zone album was too late given the sound in 1997. still, 'two turntables & a mic' is a testament to the Beatminerz genius as they mined a new feel from that played sample. shyt was almost airy.

we DO know that Justin Blaze was fan of the album. :mj:

True that once Buck, Tek, Steele linked with 2pac they started to experiment with the live instrument sounds. Wasn't the best move especially when most people were used to the Beatminerz sound. I don't even think Beatminerz even had a track on the For Da People album lol. I still liked the album though but just wasn't the kind of album I was expecting at the time.

the real crime is how slept on the 2 subsequent albums are. particularly 'Total Eclipse'...that has one of the best Nottz beats ever on it IMO.

Word I was just working out to Total Eclipse the other day album is tight all the way through. Might be the best album that came out in 2003 at the time. I heard for like 4 years now Black Moon was working on another album and Beatminerz were saying they are the reason for the hold up. This is the last thing Black Moon recorded together with Ruste Juxx and Marco Polo. Which got me sooped for another Moon joint. lol

The original to this is just as good as the remix too.

C+C Music Factory had to take some of that flava around the same time too...for the only song they ever put out worth a shyt to me. Take a Toke remix was funky as hell plus off memory, u get to see Patra basically sexing some dude in the video.

I remember being a youngin bumpin "Who's got the props" so hard. Then I got the album and loved it. "Enta Da Stage" and Smif and Wesson's "Da Shinnin" are two of the most underrated albums in the East Coast Reniassance.

When this came out

:what::ohhh::whew::snoop:

Then this Remix

:ohlawd::blessed::noah:

And this came out around the same time too

:wow:

yep, I think I put those songs back-to-back on a mixtape back then

I remember Black Moon was on Yo! and someone (Ed?) asked them how they cleared the Barry sample, and they made a joke about showing up at his crib with all the cats from the Who Got the Props video :pachaha:

they really killed it with the remixes and b-sides

edit: How Many MC's is one of my fav videos. shyt just comes together with the song and the visuals
