never been huge on black milk. was hoping this would change that, but nah....his whole sound is just dull as hell to me. and he doesn't seem to progressing at all. every album sounds exactly the same. dude comes off as a very poor man's j dilla.

I don't understand this at all. Every one of his albums (especially his solos) sounds completely different to me. Sound of the CIty/Popular Demand was based on soul samples. Tronic progressed into a more electronic sound (hence its name). Album of the Year brought a big band feel by using live instruments. No Poison No Paradise sort of combines the soul and electronic elements he had before, but makes the album much darker in general - and his albums are usually pretty energetic, so that's a change as well.

Only things I can see sounding the same are his projects with other people. But I think he did what those albums called for. Random Axe didn't have a lot of replay value for me, but I got what I was expecting from it: hard raps with hard beats. Caltroit got a lot of play when I first copped it, too.

I may be biased a bit because of my MI allegiances. But even if you dislike the records, I don't think saying everything sound the same really makes sense. That's just me though :manny:

The only issue is BM's flow and delivery never really grab you. Its like an instrument in the background. Otherwise this album is dope and well produced

Finally catch up with this.

Really feeling it. Black Milk stepped up the on the production side. Had a bad feeling he was in terminal decline.

Sonny Jr is smooth as fukk :wow:

When he's on, he's the soundtrack for the Rust Belt struggle. But I'm not really feelin' the more synth stuff. I need them drums and flipped samples.

Couldn't have said it better than Rust Belt struggle. Really articulated what I felt about him.

To me it's one of the best hip hop albums of the year. It will never really blow up, but it will be one of those lost albums people discover over the years and wonder why they never heard it before.

kanye aint fukkin wit black milk. album is dope, its like he combined the elements of his previous efforts into this one.
i would agree. quite a feat when u consider each yeezus track is the result of at least 3 or 4 composers combined. and thats not a knock i really enjoyed yeezus. i really question whoever claims all his albums sound the same. there's a pretty noticeable growth as both a rapper and producer here to me. this is a beautiful album.
