"Beauty standards" are not in the survival tier of the Life Needs Pyramid. They're at the TOP, because the concept is part of SELF ACTUALIZATION.
Many black men don't have the food, clothing, or shelter priorities in order, the "basic mental and physical health" is an afterthought.
